I dont know why, but I was just never really a fan of him.I kinda wished that he wouldn't get signed.
No, because if they didn't come in the picture we might have saved a couple million. If it wasn't for them we might have got him for quite a low ball contract, instead of the fair market contract we did get him for. Now Atlanta does owe something to Memphis for the Josh Smith thing, Atl saved money and face on that deal, this one isn't quite that way. I completely agree with the next points. The team option is huge, that makes a 3 year 9 mil contract a lot better than a 2 year 6 mil contract--and I would have been OK (not thrilled) with a 2 year 6 mil type contract with even a player option on year 2 thrown in.
then you might have an unhappy Landry and a broken Baker. Now both of them are happy and praising money and Morey....
Easy decision to match and was a complete no brainer. The sad thing about this whole landry situation is that so many people here were exposed as sheep who blindly follow morey without doing any critical thinking themselves. This whole thing was a mistake and should not have dragged on this long and it should not have taken the bobcats to make an offer to get it down. Morey gets an F in the landry negotiations.
No he doesn't...he got an F for last year's negotiations with Landry, but an A+ for this years.. Who cares if it dragged on ....he is SIGNED SEALED AND DELIVERED PRIOR TO TRAINING CAMP !!! A+ my man... DD
I don't understand what critical thinking led you to this statement. Even if the Rockets starting offer was $3 million/year, Landry's agent would not accept it. Unless Morey chose to overpay, I think it was inevitable that this would go on until close to training camp. I think both sides made the correct, rational decision. Morey let the market dictate Landry's worth, and Landry's side was going to wait as long as possible for the best offer.
I just hope he's in shape as reported, since a lot of guys, understandably, don't work out when they don't have a contract to avoid getting an injury.
I give him an F for last year as well and it can all be traced back to his terrible decision to sign francis. Who everyone in the league knew was done, yet he signs him anyways and wastes money that should have gone to landry. No francis last year, means no landry mess last year or this year. For the most part morey gets an A+ for everything else, but the francis and landry deals are an F.
I'm glad we signed Landry. If we didnt, we be letting go a huge asset to our team. I hope we sign Dorsey just cause we drafted him and it'd be nice to see what he become. As for Deke, I heart the guy but I don't think he can be of much use to us anymore. But he'll probably have to do though since I don't see a much better alternative back up C at a cheap price due to our salary right now.
