I hope he continues to play hard now that he has a paycheck Seriously though, he better not play timid because that'd take away the only thing he does well on the court.
Someone should photoshop Landry onto the Rock's body and do that thing where the Rock says "Finally.... The Landry has come back to the Rockets". ok, maybe it's not that funny.
I concur good contract for the Rockets. If he stays healthy we got a steal and if he is injured we got a trade asset next year.
In other similarly surprising news, the sun came up this morning, water has been found to be wet, puppies are cute, and cops like donuts.
Exactly. That public pronouncement about the mysterious MRI that we just HAD to see first is probably what accounted for the Bobcat's insistence on a TEAM option for the third year. Very nice work. Now if Landry proves this season that the excitement was warranted and the knee is okay, we STILL have two more years before he's a FA again. If he turns out not to be all we're hoping, he's an expiring contract to dangle in front of someone in the middle of next season.
Ladies and gentleman, Houston Rockets are ready for 3rd NBA Championship. I guess tinman's son will join on forum in about ten years and talk about them.
IMHO, this couldn't have gone better for the Rockets ... ... and great timing. It does almost seem like he knew this, though. Maybe Baker let him know what was up. In his Rockets interview, Morey said Dorsey would get signed this week, and I doubt they'd have done that if there was concern that someone would offer the full MLE, and unable to match on Landry, if some of that went to Dorsey for longer term contract .
Well obviously Morey is...it didn't even take him 24 hours to sign on the dotted line. Sounds like the big fuss about the knee was just that.....fuss. Excellent strategy to derail a players value.
Like BimaThug wrote somewhere, I think that the idea was the get Landry signed quickly and immediately find out all they can about his knee. If it ends up not looking good, verifying their worst fears, they may start to field trade offers for him to bolster that backup-PG/C depth.
They had already had a chance to look at his knee last year and they cleared him to play. Alot of people were bashing Landry for not agreeing to the scope, but c'mon......what FA ever agrees to a damn knee scope, he already did the MRI and the MRI came back clean. Now that he actually has a contract though, if he feels the knee needs to be cleaned he'll get it cleaned. Landry is ALWAYS going to have questions about that knee.....once you injure a knee there is always going to be some kinda concern, but I don't think it's as big as people are making it out to be....there are some people that act like he's walking around with a torn ACL or something.
