I don't think it's possible to blow up in the Rockets' face. If he doesn't pan out the way we wanted him to this year, he becomes a valuable expiring contract next year.
Lol it's impossible for it to blow up in the rockets faces cause 3 mill a year is pennies to an nba team.
I've got 2 points to make.. 1) Rafer's a GREAT pg for this team. He ran the team extremely well and beat out all the pg's we brought in to take his job. And looking at the Jazz vs. Rockets playoffs, the two games he DID play the whole game, we won 2 out of 3. If you guys remember, game 6 he left the game with the hamstring injury (kept him out of games 1 and 2) near the end of the 2nd quarter. If the Celtics can win with a scrub like Rondo, We'll be perfectly fine with Rafer now that he has a far less burden to be the 3rd scorer. 2)The way Carl's negotiations played is fine.. it happens. The bottom line, we got him back. Carl's got the potential to be a great player.. possibly a Carlos Boozer type player (who by the way has got to be THE UGLIEST player in the nba). He's got the bulk for it.. and is only in his 2nd year. Comparing their numbers from their rookie years Landry's got a lot of upside if his knee holds up! Landry per 48 mins = 23ppg-14 rpg Boozer per 48 mins = 19ppg-14.4 rpg Boozer in 07-08 per 48 mins = 28.8 ppg-14.2 rpg I'm not sayin Landry will be a Carlos Boozer, but i see potential in him to be that guy for the Rockets. What do yall think?
GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT.. AND THE PEOPLE WANT LANDRY! HE JUSST BETTER BE WHAT THE POEPLE ARE HYPING HIM UP TO BE.
I like Landry, but I doubt he will ever be a starting PF in the NBA, especially on a good team. Scola has more potential because he is more talented than Landry. What will determine his upside is his shooting. If Landry becomes a deadly mid-range shooter and retains his physical style of play and athleticism, that's his ticket to another level. I doubt he ever develops much of a floor game or a back-to-the-basket low-post game (too small and too short).
wearing my Landry jersey today at work to celebrate! (its friday and pretty much I've forced my rockets fandom on every person here and so no one really says anything when I wear my jerseys at work.. )
He has the tools to be every bit as good as Udonis Haslem, a starter for a championship team. Defense is the big weakness for him. Offensively, I thought he was very good last year.
****ing awesome. Heard it on 610 a couple of days ago that Morey would very likely be matching the offer sheet. Excellent, excellent news. Damn, I feel really good about this team . It all comes down to health, health, health. Go Rockets!!!
i'm glad landry won the negotiation, he was being low balled. not hating on morey, he has a job to do also
LANDRY WAS NOT LOW BALLED! He has still not played enough to warrant the money he thinks he should get. After the lessons of players such as CATOs first few contract years..... it is better to pay after consistent production..... which he has not played enough to be considered a consistent player. IMO why would pay a lot of money that brings us closer to the luxury tax for a guy without a reliable jump shot?
