He's not gonna head back to Bama to say bye to his players. What a shame.

I don't blame him. I wouldn't be surprised if his house wasn't already on fire.

OK I'm just going to put in my opinion. I am an Aggie fan and have been since I was about 6, so consider the source.

Franchione has apparently wanted to coach at A&M since at least the TCU days. At TCU, Franchione had A&M as one of 4 schools he could leave for without punishment. However, Slocum was apparently entrenched as coach, so Franchione took a different, but still tremedously prestigious job at 'Bama. Barely had he gotten there before he was handcuffed by a very harsh punishment given to him for something he didn't do. But he worked around it and produced a winner. Then, the NCAA reopens their investigation despite Tide officials tell Fran that the investigation had already uncovered everything. So, to Alabama's credit, (I'm sure Tide fans will correct me if I'm wrong) they give Dennis the chance to opt out of his contract is he wants. Dennis, seeing the possibility of the death penalty (they apparently almost gave it to the Tide last time), takes a job that offers a good salary, a rabid fan base, and a huge talent pool that he already has ties to from his TCU days.

I do feel sorry for the Alabama players and hope that they can find a coach that can keep them at their successful level, but as an Aggie fan I'm ecstatic about the new coach and very optimistic about the future.

This is pretty much what Norm Hitzges said on the paul Finebaum show yesterday. You can listen to the 14 minute clip at www.finebaum.com

OK so Norm Hitzges and I thought the same thing. Is that a good thing or bad thing. I don't listen to him much so I don't really know his reputation.

BTW I got a laugh out of what Ivan Maisel had to say on ESPN.com:
"Franchione embraced the Crimson Tide tradition, a history of success that has produced 12 national championships and the most arrogant fans north of Coral Gables and east of Austin."

Hitzges is very well thought of. He knows his stuff as well if not better than most in the media.

After many Alabama supporters posting very crass things at texags.com, the following was posted by a poster called The Janitor.

I think this was a fairly insightful post...with the exception of making fun of people who didn't go to college. More often than not though the most obnoxious fans of a school have never stepped foot on that campus.

Fran definitely had an out clause for a$m, UT and ND. He would've acted faster if UT or ND were hiring. a$m has a solid deal with fedex, but they're not the wealthiest school in the world. If Bama weren't on probation, kubiak would be the coach at a$m. Regardless, as a UT alum, I'm not worried. a$m will alwas be little brother. OU is the threat.

Franchione has dreamed of coacing at UT since he was at swt; a$m is apparently the closest he can get. Bad for Fran, but UT is what Barry Swizer called "the best job in college football."

Fran is too afraid to address his former players.

A&M got permission to speak to him on Wednesday and they agreed on Thursday. You can't move much faster than that.

Then how are they able to make him one of the highest paid coaches in college football?

Your homerism is disgusting. Little brother, eh? Tell that to the guys on the Wronghorn teams that got waxed by A&M through the early and mid 1990s.

BTW...Norm Hitzges (who is highly respected on a national level) has stated that Franchione has coveted the A&M job for years...he went to Bama because the A&M job didn't look like it was going to open up anytime soon.

NO serious commentator or anybody loosely associated with college football have stated that Coach Fran would rather be at Texas. I gave you a well known and repected commentator. You've given me nothing but baseless claims based upon nothing more than your desire to bash your rival school.

If that makes you feel better then so be it.

    See you at Kyle Field.

Actually, a$m registered aggiecoachfran.com on 11/25, yes, 3 days before RC ws "fired." This thing has been in the works for awhile.

What are you saying? a$m has alums that can afford to buy out rc? Big deal. Nearly every D-1 state school can do that. Regcognize this, whatever you paid Fran, we can pay our coach double that. We are the Jones.

Jackie Sherrill and FedEx. BTw, is Greg Hill still working that construction job?

What makes you think Fran wanted to goto a$m ahead of UT? He had both schools in his clause. As the Bama fans said, "atm is and will always be UT's little brother. Check the series record."

OU is UT's rival. Not a$m. a$m happens to be in the same state. We're better than a$m in virtually every sport. Football, basketball, baseball, diving, volleyball, etc.

Probably won't be there. However, I do have enough gumption and disposable income to bet you on next year's game. I say if Mock plays, UT wins by 17. If Vincent Young plays, UT wins by 24. Or we can go by the Vegas spread next year. You're a lawyer, so I assume you have some cash, so do I. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and take advantage of this loud-mouth, drunk t-sip? I'll bet you on the game and I can also bet you on where we finish next year, respectively.

I recognize you as a very intelligent man. Can you tell me why a football recruit would rather be at a$m then UT? Less competition at a$m is the ony advantage I can think of. UT is more diverse, their students have higher SAT scores and the city is alot more tolerant of minorities. What's a$m, 85% white? It doesn't make the recruits feel at home. If playing time wren't an issue, a$m couldn't beat UT for a recruit to save their lives.

Irrelevant. they moved on it the nanosecond they legally could.

If you'd READ my post...you'd know that I said that we made Coach Fran one of the highest paid coaches in college football.

    Excuses, excuses, excuses.

What makes you so sure he didn't? You have NO facts to back up your claims. Oh and I could give a damn what some sore loser at Bama has to say.

Yep...you got your asses punked in your own arena by a 9 win A&M team last season. You show such dominance. This is really laughable.

This is interesting. I look forward to seeing what the spread is. Would you care to go by the open board spread...the parlay spread...or the super teaser spread?

Look at all the current NFL players who disagreed with you and went to A&M.

Ditto Refman, I'll let you do most the talking for me.
I just wanted to add, I haven't seen so much arrogance in a school (by gr8-1) since, well, a couple of days ago by the Bama alum (why would anyone leave bama?).:p

Or that day when UT killed A&M when two yell leaders thought it was there job to keep UT officials off their own ****ing field.

gr8-1, A&M is better than UT in Women's Rodeo. And in being obsessed with Lassie.

What brought all this on, gr8-1? Jealousy? That's the only way I can explain it. A&M made a number of good moves this week and are garnering a lot of attention, and for whatever reason this seems to be upsetting you.

Why do you all the sudden feel the need to try and prove (to noone but yourself)that Texas is a better school than A&M? Hmmmm? Nobody is saying A&M is going to start beating Texas and noone is saying A&M is a better school, so what gives?

FWIW, that's not what I was trying to say with my last post. I'm generally happy that A&M got Franchione because it'll do one of two things:

    1. Motivate Mack

    2. Make Alumni realize that Mack's not the answer.

If A&M starts to dominate us like OU has been the past three years, then Mack won't be around much longer, despite his advantages as a February coach.

You can do much better than this. This doesn't even deserve a response.

Sorry. Revilee, or however you spell it.

And they are better than UT in women's rodeo. They won the national championship last year.

They played his news conference live on the radio in Austin this morning.

It was followed by the TK show, with a very, very BITTER Dan Davis. Maybe the guy is an Tide Alumni, but dude was pissed.

He kepts saying words like "backstabbing" and wished an 0-12 season on A&M next year.

LOL...I thought you were being flippant. I didn't even know we had a women's rodeo team.

As for our mascot...if you have trouble spelling it...just call her Rev...that's what a lot of us do. :)
