I guess they won't know until after the surgery. It sounds like he's either done for the year or maybe worse.

REEKO is the character Randy Quaid played in Major League. He's a "fan", but won't pass up an opportunity to s*** on the team no matter how stupid the reason.

Texans should sign Chris Brown. No, not that guy who played for them last season. But the other one who played Oklahoma last year and went undrafted. Other free agents out there are Ladell Betts, Tatum Bell, and Kolby Smith.

To me, It's not about losing tate. It's more about a high round pick going to waste. I don't mean to sound like I don't care about the guy, but with this regime's drafting history, our 2nd round picks have been important contributors to building this soon to be dynasty. In the end, if both sharpton and dickerson turn out to be awesome, then the tate pick won't matter.

I'm hoping he does have a full recovery.

Injured reserve means he can't come back this season, if if possible, correct?

2nd round might may be a "waste" this year but he is still young and could come back with from this injury strong. But remember he was going to be the 3rd back on this team in all likely. I have faith in Foster and Slaton. Johnson showed flashes last night and Henry is intriguing. Rick Smith has a good eye on talent and will be looking at the backs who get cut as it gets closer to opening day. This team is a pass first team and was one of the best offenses in NFL without a running game. It sucks to lose Tate but it's not the end of the world.

Yes he won't be able to play this season if placed on IR.

If your 2nd rounder RB is the 3rd stringer in your team them the Scouting department failed miserably. Especially if Slaton beat him out.

Either way, it's a shame and I hope he can recover but a lower leg injury on a RB...I'm guessing we draft another RB next year.

Not as big a blow as you think. I think Henry will surprise everyone.

I disagree. He was going to start as may be the 3rd back but that doesn't mean he would end the season there. Not every rookie comes to the NFL and dominates. And they won't be drafting another RB early next year. I promise you that.

Doesnt matter which RB we would have selected...Gerhart, RM Jr., etc...they would have been 3rd on the list behind Foster and Slaton during the first preseason game. After all, they have to earn the promotions from playing well in games...not just in practice.

I would also be willing to bet that if Tate didnt get injured, he would have been 2nd string come next week (due to Slaton's fumble).

Exactly. Tate showed tremendous promise. Further, due to his size, he showed promise to give the team something that it has lacked...the ability to deliver the needed yards on 3rd and short.

Reeko -- It's time to get off Gerhart's nuts.

Slaton didn't beat him out. He had a great rookie season and was getting the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

Our scouting dept has been tremendous for a while. My God.. you complain about everything when it's Texans related.

The Texans management sucks! They should have known beforehand that Tate would get hurt this season!!

And it shows why competition is a good thing. I think this is the first time I can recall the depth of promise at RB from 5 possibilities...

REEKO_HTOWN: Texans, Astros, Dynamo :: DaDakota: GARM

For ****s sake man, Ben Tate carried the ball one freaking time in a preseason game and you're declaring him a draft bust because he wasn't a starter on the depth chart coming into the pre-season?

I've heard the scouting reports. I've listened to all the guys who've seen him and they say the same thing. "He hasn't shown anything special".

They're saying Henry is having a better camp than him. WTF!?! So, I'm just supposed to "have faith" and hope for the best?

I do like Dikerson and Sharpton though.

**** that. I don't have favorite players at all. I just don't trust this GM or his coaching staff. I hate Kubes and that makes me a ****ing DD?

    reeko already in mid-season form.

Sucks about Tate. While I still think it's Foster's job to lose, having Tate peppered in the lineup through out the season would have been nice from an experience standpoint. Hope it's just a borken ankle and no significant tendon damage. Granted, it was only 1 play, you could see why he was drafted in that play, i.e. he really exploded through the hole.

I assume they will place him on IR. Johnson has a lot of promise and Henry can help a little.
