As Adelman mentions in the Chronicle article, a Head-and-Barry backcourt should be fine for a few games to compensate for Brooks. As long as Brooks misses only a few games and comes back healthy, it shouldn't be a factor. Sounds like the bigger problem is the small forward position, with Battier injured and McGrady not 100%. Given this situation, I'm surprised they didn't opt to keep Mike Harris around for a bit longer as a stopgap measure. From the Chronicle a day before Brooks' injury: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6079477.html
Yet, he's not even practicing... Brooks and Battier may be healthy before Francis even participates in his 1st full practice.
guys..what do you think of this plan... we play Luther at PG! Its wayyyy better than playing Rafer for 40 mins! I really don't want to see Rafer playing more than 30 mins per game this season. 25 mpg sounds about right for Rafer. Luther has been shooting well in the preseason. He has been the best shooter from stats in the preseason, connecting for something like 60%fg% and even more than 60%3ptFG%! We ramp up Luther stats for a couple of months, and then when AB comes back and comes onto his own in the PG role, we ship Luther's ass to New Jersey for a 7 footer in Sean Williams-the next great shotblocking machine, ... Sean would certainly blossom under the guidance of Sikma and Mutombo. I'm sure with the NJ wanting to dump VC's salary they have no SG at all! CDR can't really do much in his preseason. They'd have no reason at all not to take Luther for Sean Williams. Maybe if Luther plays really well we might be able to get a 2nd round pick or something. I envision a blockbuster deal in the trade deadline that would see NJ dumping VC and a Luther-Sean Williams swap. Any ideas?
It's a cycle boys and girls. We get injured at the beginning and are completely healthy come playoff time. I BELIEVE
this team is cursed for some reason. can we go through ONE season without any injuries? and yet we have it BEFORE the season starts to many of our main guys. unbelievable.
