The hell is your problem? The man is humongus, plays his heart out every night he can of the NBA season then goes and plays for a crap ass national team. That dude has more heart and responsibility than you could imagine and you call him stupid?
You are being too harsh. When he came to the Rockets, Yao continued doing what made him the #1 pick and it worked fine for 3 years. Yao's toe injury in 05 and his knee injury late in 06 had nothing to do with working too hard. Only with this last injury can we reasonably conclude a lack of rest might be the culprit. So Yao now agrees to reduce his non-gameday activities. That doesn't sound "stupidly stubborn" to me. Strictly on the issue of injury prevention, slowing Yao down on days off is smarter than reducing his playing time, IMO. But if it takes reducing Yao's playing time to make him more effective in the 4th quarter, I'm all for it.
Unfortunately you are right about Yao's dumb decision making and being stubborn. He will run himself into the ground if you let him because it's just the type of player he is. Yao is his own worst enemy because he hasn't learned to say NO and until he does he will continue to get hurt and sit out long stretches of the season.
he might've made stupid decisions, but that doesn't overshadow all the great and clutch moments he's given us due to him playing his ass off. thanks yao!
