this team needs a veteran bruiser 4/5.

i'm sure morey will come up with one... a trade seems likely. the FA's available don't seem that intriguing beyond brad miller.

i can see adelman talking morey into playing small ball when yao is out of the game... (NO!)

Hill have potential but still a long way to go as i watch him play the Summer League game. I think Hill's growth is kind of slow. Like Yao in the early years...it takes awhile for him to grow the where he is today. Hill is in similar growth pace. That's why we need player like Brad Miller.

Ishmael Smith looked real solid tonight. Very quick, great passer, and a solid jump shooter.

A veteran bruiser who is a 4 but can also play the 5 if need be? How bout Anderson Varejeo? He is a great defensive minded player who hustles all the time. His offensive game reminds me of a less polished version of Scola.

How about we do a sign and trade. Kyle Lowry for Varejeo + Gibson.

    .

We also get a back up point guard who can shoot the three ball well with the 2nd unit.

    Brooks/Gibson
    Martin/Budinger
    Ariza/Battier
    Scola/Varejeo/Patterson
    Yao/Varejeo/Hill

I don't know if he absolutely expects it. But he did say at this late date they don't really have another option. He knows a healthy Yao is a major league player. McHale said as much today, Yao slows the game down and is a beast on the low block while much more valuable on defense than anyone imagines. Everyone gives credit to JVG for his defense but then Adelman runs a more balanced attack with almost as good a defense. Yao was the key and when he went down it was apparent he was the key on defense.

Morey knows this teaam wil only be a contender next season if Yao returns healthy. ANd he may not absolutely expect that but he absolutely hopes it.

    solid jump shooter?

he makes rafer alston look like a 3 point champion.

but other than that im already in love with this kid...super smooth and super quick...it seemed when the ball was in his hands he was always gonna make something happen around the corner in a flash

Naw, barring any significant trade, Hickson is the future of that franchise now.

umm did you see any Cavs games this season? When Shaq was injured and Big Z was traded and couldn't re-sign with the Cavs for a month, Andy started at center for them and did a pretty damn good job at it. Andy can really give someone like Gasol fits in the playoffs. A perfect compliment to Yao if you ask me. Gibson is just a throw in but I'm liking the idea of aquiring a guy like Moon if we have to give up someone like Battier or Budinger in a seperate trade.

I would do this deal so fast! I would even throw in Jordan Hill because with Scola, Yao, Patterson and Chandler there would be very little if any playing time for Hill. I would even consider riding out Jeffrie's current contract in hopes of signing him to a more reasonable contract next summer.

let our young guys play & develop ... unless we acquire an impact player that significantly improves our championship potential.

Exactly. Does Brad or Tyson put us that much over the top? Let's see how the young guys play next to our load-carrying stars! Martin, Brooks, Luis, Yao. If Hill and co. playing is clearly detrimental to us, start looking at that point for the 2nd, 3rd tier big men.

Agreed. Maybe they can sign one of us to an "offer shoot".
