Maybe the current Mark Jackson. I don't really get the Jason Kidd reference. As badly as CP3 exposed him in the first round, he's still a heck of a lot quicker than Novak.

It's like saying Novak is an offensive liability...

Those guys are 1-dimensional on offense, but they aren't a LIABILITY. They're not going to run the offense for anyone - but certainly aren't liabilities...

Seems to me that you want to define an offensive contributor as someone who can get their own shot off and/or create for others. If that's the definition that you're working with, fine, Battier is a liability. But then again, using that style of argumentation you could argue that Ming is a liability because he can 'only' score when he gets given the ball in the right positions. [ok - it's a stretch]

I don't think 40% 3pt shooters are ever 'liabilities' because they keep the defence honest and unable to double team.
Chuck Hayes on the other hand IS a liability because he can't shoot, nor hit a layup. IE - he has nothing to contribute on the offensive end, so players can cheat off him, reducing the overall effectiveness of the offence with him on board.

What about Bonzi? With a healthy Yao, a year better Landry & Brooks, and a resigned Bonzi, why can't we be contenders next year. At least Bonzi gets along with everyone, knows the system, and can be a big-time scorer (especially in the playoffs). Personally, I really like his game. He was truely our 3rd scoring option before he was traded (or when Rafer wasn't jacking up shots). He can play the 2 or the 3 (ie. more rest for T-Mac).

    Why not Bonzi?

Because he will go to the highest bidder.

why not Pietrus? plus pietrus can hit the three, and wants out from GSW.

if you haven't noticed bonzi didn't really fit in well with the rockets, thats why we traded him away...to give landry etc minutes, why do you want him back if u traded him away in the first place only like 3 months later?

    Maggette >>>>> Pietrus >> Bonzi

Not enough. He is inconsistent and will be looking for a long contract .

Bonzi has been hampered by injuries for the past 2 years. He had some really bad games, while playing hurt. We already have Steve Francis, Yao Ming, T-Mac, Alston going through surgery or recovering from surgery. We don't need another injured player.

Gasol is useless. He can't rebound and can't play defense. He's way overrated and has been totally exposed by Boozer in this game.

The MOST realistic trade is probably Ron Artest or Mike Miller.

Both of these players are a good fit. I can bet Mike Miller wants to play for the rockets as well, since Miller is a good friend of Mcgrady's, he would make a good fit considering he has a reliable 3 pointer and a very deadly streaky shooter.

Artest seems nice as well, but we will most likely be giving up Battier for him. However, I think Battier is only worth giving up if the players we get back have just as good defense as him, because Battier sets the Rockets defensive foundation. When he is gone, the rockets defense could break down.

If we don't necessarily need to pull off a Laker to get Miller. But we could pull a lesser Laker to get Ron Artest yet still keep battier.

This is the roster I'd like to see next year:

    Yao/Obryant
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Battier/Miller
    Tmac/Davis
    Alston/Mason/Brooks

Acquisitions: Mike Miller via trade, Ricky Davis MLE(5yrs 20mil) Roger Mason(5yrs 10mil), Patrick Obryant ( League min)(D league last season)

    Reasoning:

Miller= shooter with size, can create his own shot and still young
Davis= scorer with size, can create his own shot and still young
Mason= size and can create his own shot and still young
Obryant= size, length and is still young.

See the recurring theme? All the perimeter players have length and can create their own shot. In other words not stand and shoot players.

I honestly believe these deals can be done. The number of years may have to change but I honestly believe Davis and Mason are worth it. Miller is a no brainer. If the Rox are trying to win now, they should spend now.

Cat's production has been going down. Except for one year (last season), it's been a rather steady decline (although a very, VERY slow one in terms of percentages). So is it worth it to take the risk on his bad contract to see if he can have another 41% 3pt season? I don't know. I don't think so, but I think it's less of a risk than bringing Ron Artest here.

And HayesFan, great point on Mike Miller. I think there's only so much the Grizzlies can give away.

Ah yes Corey Maggette. Another injry prone star to nurse through the season. We need someone we can trust to be able to play 70+ games a season and to stay fit. A guard who can shoot, score off of thedribble with size.
