I guess the question is, if the lockout last for more than a year, do contracts carry over or not? If not, then I can see some pause for concern. Otherwise, seems like a moot point.

Great question.....the owners always seem to leave themselves an out....IE the Michael Finley buyout deal.

I guess we will all see what happens.

They won't get paul, but i will chime in anyway. To get a player like paul doesn't come around often. So you do what you have to do to get that guy. What do i suggest? I thought you would never ask

Paul,Posey, and Okefor make around 32m. Since both teams are over the cap, they have to be within 25% which is about 24m. Now we know the hornets are trying to unload salary and get down, so the rockets will have to take the higher of the salaries.

Yao+Battier will get it done just by the numbers, but since its a inter division trade and the rockets are getting a super star, it will cost more. More as in what? Hill or Patterson and 1 of the knicks pick.

So now we have Paul, okefor, and posey for yao, shane, patterson or hill, and the knicks pick. Well now, another logjam has been created, but in a good way of sorts. Paul is going to play at least 35 minutes a night and martin when healthy will do the same. So brooks or lowry will have to go either solo or in packaged deals. When you have paul as a pg, you need/want play finishers on the team. The more, the merrier is what i say. Martin, chase, scola, ariza would all play better with paul. Martin and chase are kind of catch and shoot guys and ariza could get back to running the floor and finishing vs trying to set guys up. Scola is really good in pick and pop and running the floor in transition as well as okefor can do thet also. The rockets could use brooks, ariza, and hayes to upgrade the sf if they choose.. People will throw granger's name out there and thats cool and he would be better playing with paul. Brooks,Ariza, and the knicks 2012 pick would do it money wise and maybe even talent wise.

    Paul/Lowry
    Martin/chase/taylor
    Granger/chase/posey
    Scola/Patterson or Hill/Jeffries/Hayes
    Okafor/Miller/johnson

The rockets are now rebuilt around a great player in paul and they have guys around the same age in martin, granger, scola, and okafor along with young guys who can get better like chase, patterson or hill, taylor, and lowry. The hornets get rid of okafor contract and get a gate guy like yao plus a young pf of choice and a potential lotto pick from the knicks. The Pacers get salary relief, a up and coming pg like brooks and a young improving guy like ariza plus a potential lotto pick. The trade is about as far fetched as paul being trade to the rockets anyway.

very nice, imba starting lineup id say. yao+shane for CP3+okafor+posey, more than enuff, NO WAI we would give up our knicks pick and patterson. Hornets only care about $$$$$ now and they got YAOMING so they have the cashcow, wut else they expect?! And...HELL NO we do not need another injury prone as Granger, AB is already an all-star lvl player btw, if we decide to trade AB, we ask for MORE! YES we need Melo ffs!

Kevin Martin was a star player in Sacramento too, but then he goes to a good team, and now he isn't. interesting... ;)

Not only that, teams used the sign-and-trade tactic in droves. Which was supposed to be Morey's best power move to bring in a superstar.

I wonder in the CBA if they'll consider that a loophole that needs to be closed off. Like the 30 day waiver period rule, trading a player who gets waived and you can sign him back 30 days later. They probably shouldnt or teams would REALLY get fleeced when all the good players choose to pal up together on 1 team.

Though I dont like conferences, the good thing about them now is the Rockets just have to be concerned about the West, and all that mayhem in the East is a bridge they'll cross when they get there.

Will never happen, not this off-season. Yao's not going anywhere. Good try, though. ;)

Yea u right, but can't the stars see that the rocks are a hard working team....w/o yoa 42-40 (i think)....and w/ yao we will win.....and we could still make the playoffs if he only plays half the season and because of playing half the season then he stays healthy for playoffs..we have brooks, martin, battier, scola, and the best bench in the league-u stupid stars (not all ofccourse)

I like Jordan because he said he wanted to beat the best, therefore he didn't play w/ the best like MAGIC, BIRD.
Nowdays superstars want to piggy back ride to the GLORY
