    vspan is a b!tch.

    looks like jvg was right...

how many of you are willing to admit it?

i am guessing jvg saw this "baby" sort of attitude in vsapn all along. the only thing we knew is he was great in the world championships.

so now some greek team just gets to pick him up for free??? Where's our buyout clause?? BS!! He should have to pay back his entire salary for last year if he wants out. We don't invest all we did in him and then just let him go. He should atleast have to attempt playing here for two seasons, especially now that JVG is gone. This is ridiculous.

What can I say, America is not for everybody. Only the stronger and tougher will survive in here.
Funny that is what I was thinking about after reading all the profanity in this thread. Real emotion thou, but Vspan is history now, let's think more about how to make the team better next season!
    Peace!

Looks like a holdout is about to happen between V-Span and Morey.

This smacks of "I don't trust the Rockets" more than "I am homesick"....I think he is using that because it is the only leverage he has to get out of his contract.

I am torn here, I personally think the Rockets should make him honor his deal, but I think it would be fun to call his bluff.

So, here is what I would like Morey to do:

I would like the Rockets to say, "Sure Billy, we will let you out of your contract, all you have to do is sign this form that says you can not play in the NBA or outside of Greece for the next 20 years."

See how his tune changes then.

This just sounds like a negotiating ploy to get him out of his contract......I hope the Rockets play hard ball here.......

However, if he wants to go home, and be a hero in Greece, let him....but don't let him have any chance of coming back to the NBA....ever.

Gonna be fun to see how it all plays out.....

I can't believe that most of you even care about this.

    VSpan's are a dime a dozen.

I hope the Rox let him go back to Greece. No big loss at all. A PG that cannot hit a jump shot or a 3 is basically worthless unless he is 6'5 or taller

He played well against the US team... and sucked it up royally in the championship game.

That = "average" (at best) in the championships... not great (hell, look at what Carlos Arroyo does in international play compared to the NBA... it doesn't always translate).

This team has bigger issues with or without him... he is (and should have always been) a non-issue. The team should have NEVER thrown guaranteed money at him without management and the coaching staff coming together on a definitive development plan (it never happened... CD wanted him, while JVG didn't).

Now, even though both management AND the coaching staff have changed, there still is no clear plan on what to do with him... and the only thing he keeps whining about is the same stuff that could have been realized before they ever brought him over.

Discussing him any further (regardless of what happens) is a colossal waste ot time.

Civilian life has been good for JVG. He's already lost the bags under his eyes and his hair has grown back!

We also won't be forced to listen to that crap at the game..."Hi Rockets fans, I'm Vassilous Spanoulis, today we're going to learn how to say defense in Greek." "Ah-mee-nah." "Now you try it." "Well done!"

Nor will we have to see that annoying guy with the Greek flag.....

They're only fun if a player has actually accomplished something... or had a career that is worthy of discussion. Spannoulis is a nobody. He got a guaranteed contract that should have never been given. He isn't even all that accomplished internationally... TONS of players accomplished a lot more than he did overseas before attempting to make it in the NBA (some do, some don't, but at least they're professional about it).

By comparison, Moochie Norris' career ran circles around V-span's... and come next year, they'll both be in the same position. Helluva lot richer, but won't ever be able to sniff the NBA again.

Regardless of it all, the Rockets are in the same predicament for next year WITH OR WITHOUT HIM. That means he's a non-factor... people shouldn't waste time on non-factors.

It's disappointing. But I think we all could see this coming. And I am sure the Rockets could too which makes the Aaron Brooks draft pick all the more sensible. Brooks is going to be that energizer PG off the bench.

As for Vspan, now he becomes a Cap Number. Since he is on the cap for ~ 2M this season, and since the following year is a Team Option that means he basically is an expiring contract. He will be on the cap for 2M this season but since he won't play, no one has to pay him.

Sooo, that means that Sura's 3.8M and Vspan's 2M equal close to 6M in cap number with only 1 million guaranteed. So that's a nice expiring contract there.

Sura+Vspan is now one of our best trade chips. You throw in an asset like Head or to a lesser exptent JL3 and it becomes better.

Hope he's packaged up as part of a trade and then released by the team he's traded to so he can go back home.

Never understood the love he got, few times I saw him on court he was wild and couldn't shoot. Had a chance didn't make the best of it, had another chance to play for a new coach and mindset but decided he'd quit instead.

    Good Riddance
