I'd take Iguodala in a heartbeat.

Dalembert's contract is EXPIRING and he can contribute as an athletic 5th.

We need a center who rebounds and can contribute to the team offensively.

Sticking with Andersen and Hayes is enough to make me throw up. Granted, they go underrated, but for crying out loud, Andersen can't post up worth *****. Without his range, Andersen would be totally useless. Hell I'd play Joey Dorsey over this guy any day, he'd at least grab rebounds.

Hayes turns over the ball trying to do crazy offensive plays, he can't rebound like the bigger, taller players, and he can't post up down low.

this trade for McGrady fits the bill in every way except when we have to throw in key players. Otherwise, just friggn' do it.

Then what the hell are you doing on clutchfans.net? Go cheer for one of the other teams that are competing for spots 4-8. Good grief.

Here's the real question to ask:

If we trade T-Mac for Iggy and Dalembert straight up (even though Phili will probably want someone else as well), will we have a chance of winning a championship in 2010-2011 when Yao comes back with the same supporting cast and these additional two players? The answer is unequivocally NO. So why waste the next 4 years of our time rebuilding around a team that won't win? Let T-Mac's contract expire and we'll go for a superstar. That's the only chance I see us being true contenders.

The 'King' (sic) is not a beat writer. He is a columnist with questionable cred. All that said, this was entertaining as far as Solomon's writing goes.

To take Dalembaert IMHO it would require (1) SD waiving his trade kicker
    (2) a young studly included (Speights eg) (3) a team to flip SD to (eg Sac for Thomas/Nocioni) (4) a team to flip Nocioni to (C's eg for expirings). Then - you have McG = Iggy + Speights (+ an expiring). Easy - it's a simple four team deal with a trade kicker kicked, to boot. Simple. As if.

Look long term, man. What would happen if we do the deal and Les doesn't want to go over Lt? This is what would happen:

    1. Iggy and Dalembert's contract would put Rox over LT without resign Scola and Lowry before Dalembert's contract expires.

    2. Scola and Lowry would walk for free this summer.

3.Rox wouldn't be able to sign any free agent in the summer despite it being the best free agent pool ever.

    4. Rox will have a 12 mil backup center. The combing salary at center position would be over 40mil, something around 70% of team's salary.

    5. Rox would only have one quality PG in Brooks, and no quality PG if Brooks couldn't play in some of the games.

    6. After this summer's expiring contracts, most team will not be eager to dump salaries, which mean's Dalembert's expiring contract won't be that valuable like previous years anymore, if at all. Don't expcet much talent in return for that expiring contract.

    7. Iggy's average salary would be around 14mil for next 4 years, more than Battier/Ariza's combined salaries. He could very well be over-paid.

In one word, that Iggy,Dalembert for Tmac deal is a very bad one if no 3rd team or a lot young talents/draft picks were involved.

DM has already said that he wants to get an "elite" type player for Tracy. He sees Kyle Lowry as being an elite player so it could be anyone... My guess is that he is trying to get Iggy without having to take back any other salary...

    In other words, a 3-way...

Scola and Lowry could be in a deal, because they can walk... I expect DM would want Speights, Young, or Sweet Lou in return...

Time to get realistic: the Rockets will not get close to a championship this year; no need to rush to make a deal.

What if we end up with Amare, Iggy, and Dalembert?

    Would we be contenders?

Do not read this thread, it will make you cry.

Even with all the hard work you've done explaining possible trades and cap space, it is clear many people still have no clue. Thanks for the hard work anyway.

I agree, we could trade Battier , Dorsey to Thunder for Etan Thomas(7.9 Mill. expiring), Serge Ibaka and Phx 2010(unprotected) first rd pick...

I agree with the sentiment, if not the reasoning. Iggy's overpaid, and Dalembert is even worse. Iguodala is the kind of guy you add if you're a contender trying to put yourself over the top, which we are not. He's not worth the loss of long-term financial flexibility just to win another 4 games next year.

Iggy isn't the guy we take on a bad contract to get. He is the bad contract, and unless Philly throws in some of their young talent, we're better off letting T-Mac expire, resigning our guys, maybe buying a pick or two, and retaining the flexibility we need to make a move in the future.

I'm not keen on overpaying for players, but trade commenters need to remember this: Dalembert's bad contract this year becomes a very desirable $12M expiring next year to use to acquire another known star like Iggy (who is not cheap but is only 26). There will be free agents in 2011. That is not an exclusive phenonmenon of 2010.

you are killing me. in several threads now you insist that us limping into the playoffs this year only to get swept by a top seed team is better than us revamping for the future. you also slam anyone who disagrees with your lunacy as not being a fan. i love the way this team fights, but it needs more firepower, more talent. i got a kick out of how they took the lakers to seven games last year and considered it a moral victory - but now i'm ready for some real victories. so lay off with the condescension.

but in all seriousness, i think this might be a piece that spells the truth, maybe morey is being lowballed, maybe they dont want to lose lowry, maybe they want to keep scola and landry, maybe philly backed-out, maybe tmac just flat out refuses to be traded to philly. (i bet tmac goes to ny and id bet anyone $100 via paypal)
