What do you think about Troy Murphy he is 6'11 245 pounds and has nice out side shot.

He was on the block last feb. But the Cav decided to go with Jamison instead.

Is it too far fetched to think we could trot him out at center.

He also is a expiring contract according to hoopshype

I like Murphy. But so do the Pacers. They're not giving him up for expiring contracts. Especially since he, himself, is an expiring contract. It'll take picks and a good young player (like Hill or Patterson) to get Murphy from Indiana.

Here's an idea I am kicing around a bit:

Trade expiring contracts (David Andersen and Jeffries) for Emeka Okafor. In exchange for the salary relief, the Rockets ask for as many 1st round picks or pick swaps as possible with as little protection as possible.

Okafor is expensive, probably too expensive for his production, that's why you can probably get some picks in exchange for taking on his contract. He also fits the need for a rim protector.

At the same time, New Orleans is facing a Chris Paul crisis and may have to trade him within the next year or so. If CP gets traded, they are ****ed and the picks will likely be high. Hell, the picks might be pretty good even with CP playing if they are playing without their primary rim protector.

Losing the pick while team tanks is a bad combo. So, if the Rocket take Okafor and their picks, and they want to trade CP without getting doubly ****ed, there is only one choice: Offer CP to Houston in exchange for a package that includes a return of the Hornets picks.

    Make Sense?

Took advantage of the knicks yes, Kings no, we lost Landry. Getting Martin was worth it though, but your point is valid.

If that worked you would be in the Hollinger / Bill Simmons Hall of Fame.
    Nice strategy! ;)

Carl Herrera, if we miss out on Miller I think I might try your scenario. Last year I would have said no way, but it may be the way to go if nothing else presents itself.

Yes. Makes some sense. It would be better if we could lose Ariza's contract in that Okafor deal if New Orleans would still send back at least their 2011 pick. If they fail to make the playoffs, then their pick plus the Knicks swapped pick may be enough to net the rights to Rubio, especially if one of those picks yields Jones or Barnes in the draft.

I wonder what other teams are out there that are potential lottery teams that we may be able to steal their lottery pick for a bad contract? Would Golden State give us Biedrins and their #1 for Ariza and an expiring?

How about the Clippers? Would they give us their #1 and Kamen for Ariza and an expiring?
