Totally agree, and one of the tweaks is getting a coach that will make in game adjustments and develop a bench.

See, this why we need to look past just record. We just won 52 games with our stars injured a significant part of the season, yes, but if you can't see the divide between us and San Antonio, or Phoenix, or even Dallas, then it is YOU in fact that is being unrealistic. We have to make 2 or 3 moves to get good players (not GREAT players, good players) in order to complete with the top echelon teams.

After looking at the cap situation, I don't feel very optimistic at the moment. Pessimistic? Perhaps, but I have been extremely pleased going into each of the last 2 seasons and either they did not perform or JVG just plain didn't play them. Actually, it was a bit of both.

As long as JVG is here (I hope he is gone), it is very telling that the free agents we have signed have not done well or just plain not played.

Anyway, if you are satisfied with how last season went and want more of the same next season with just a few more lucky bounces going our way, then I don't know what to tell you. Stagnant offense, lack of adjustments to teams we are playing, and an all around ugly brand of basketball (ugly at times, not all the time.........honestly it was the majority tho).

I hope management gets 2 or 3 good players (Mike Bibby, Grant Hill, or Mike Bibby? :).....) that JVG will play (if he is indeed back) and then I would be excited about this upcoming season.

Yeah they all sound delusional to me. The Rockets choked. It wasn't a question of a few bounces of a basketball. I agree with you the talent gap is really large. Yao Ming told the truth when he admitted that the team needs tough and experienced players to get to the next level.

Morey is seriously mistaken if he thinks 60 win teams get bounced in the first round by a team whose stars are playoff virgins. With all due respect we've been trying to get over the "hump" since 2004.

This is exactly the way I see it. Which is why I've been so depressed all week...

We've improved by 1 regular season game in 2 years. But hey, at least we didn't get blown out by 40 in THIS years Round 1 Game 7 loss. That's improvement, right?

Let's not make any changes to this years team. Then maybe we can win 53 regular season games next year and lose Game 7 of Round 1 in OVERTIME instead of regulation.

It shouldn't have to be a choice.

You can still play good defense AND good offense.

That is the whole problem...CHAMPIONSHIP teams are balanced.

JVG has the good defense part down, but he is too controlling on offense and when things break down the team panics....

JVG has to go...and a new coach that is good on defense and offense needs to be brought in.

I will take a little less defense for a lot more offense.

I have respect for Tad Brown and Daryl Morey, but these are the types of articles that shouldn't be written.

What do you expect Morey to say? We have to make a move to sell tickets? We have to make a move to contend? He's doing the smart thing. Don't panic, don't guarantee changes (especially when you have limited assets to work with), keep what you believe are your team needs close to your vest and see what comes up.

If you put the jazz-hatred aside, you will see this year's Jazz is superbly coached offensive machine. Midway through the season I was already having bad dreams of Rockets' 3-pt shooting coming play-offs.

Of course I still hate Jazz.

This is the opposite of what want them to feel...we the fans do feel like we are owed one....we live and die with this team....it is a simple as that...live it....OK we do!!! we need them to be go getters...they need to know that we know that changes are needed... we are not a couple steps away from a championship...we are close to being a perenial playoff team...thats what we are....we need the talent...bring in SF3...bring back Lewis...trade for Dirk...trade for KG....make this place rocking....give us a present....they do owe us...big time....guys like Davis and Carter are in the playoffs right now haiving been traded before for nothing....because someone jumped on a situation...this is still a business...foresightedness is the greatest assest...bring us glory...it can happen and it should happen...

you're right but we actually did ok on offense this season. 97 ppg is not great but its adequate for the tempo and D we play. Our players didnt step up when they had to and since we cant get rid of our core group, JVG will have to take the hit.

    Adequate? A deeper look...

96.98 ppg made the Rockets 17th of 30 teams. Of the 13 worse offensive teams, only 3 were in the playoffs...and ALL 3 are in the EC. CLE (18)...who has a post game but has perimeter players other than LeBron who can get their own shot...DET (21) who can post Webber or Rasheed and has multiple players that can get their own shot...and MIA (29th) who has a post player and no one not named "Wade" that can get their own shot.

The low ppg playoff teams without multiple scorers are fishin'...the low ppg playoff teams with multiple perimeter scorers (ie, players that can get their own shots) are headed for the EC Finals.

Axing VG is only part of the equation.

golden state and phoenix have revealed to me that a great offense is better than an above average defense. if phoenix beats san antonio, than i will be thoroughly convinced.

Great post. But I think Cleveland is heading to the EC finals more because of their easy matchups than their perimeter playmaking. Sometimes I wonder if making the offense go through Yao is a mistake, since it seems to bog the game down and makes easy baskets almost impossible to come by(besides Yao's easy baskets). Maybe our perimeter offense should be our first option with Yao as an offensive option if no quality shot is found. Sort of like what the Spurs do with Tim Duncan. Oh well, we don't have the personnel for that right now anyways.

    LOL great spin, Blinebury.

Jeez, the crap Brown and Les are throwing out there is BS to the max. If this series showed anything, it's that the Rockets are further away from contending for a title than anyone thought.
