    Here are some thoughts:

    1) McGrady, Buddinger, Dorsey to The Knicks for David Lee, Jeffries, Larry Hughes, and whatever contracts you need to make it work.

    2) McGrady to New Jersey for Devin Harris and Bobby Simmons (bet you haven't thought of THAT one...)

    3) Luis Scola, Shane Battier, David Anderson, and Brian Cook to Orlando for Rashard Lewis, Anthony Johnson, and Adonal Foyle.

    4) McGrady, Dorsey, Buddinger to Indiana for TJ Ford, Troy Murphy, and Luther Head.

    5) Yao Ming for Lamarcus Aldridge and Andre Miller

    1) No. David lee has a No Trade Clause. He wan't to keep his Bird rights for next year.

    2) Maybe. Devin Harris is a good player but we have a PG

    3) Hell no. Lewis has to be the most overpaid player based on production (except T-mac). A PF that plays like a SF making $20 mil.

    4) I hope not. I would never forgive Morey for a stupid trade like that. That would a robbery by the Pacers.

    5) Blazer's lol @ Morey. Les would never give up Yao. Blazers wouldn't trade LMA for Bosh.

I generally like those proposals, though definitely not 2) nor 5). I could do 1). I could do 3) or 4), depending on how long-term those contracts are (too lazy to look them up right now). If we did 1), would we re-sign Lee? Would we trade Scola or Landry this summer?

If we trade McGrady, at most half of what we get back should be a long-term (5 years or more, maybe 4), and then only for a really good player like Iggy. If we just let McGrady expire, we are only back to the salary cap, roughly, and if we take back $23 million in salaries that don't expire, we are $23 million or so over. I don't know where Les is on this. I think it's reasonable if they are good contracts, and we can compete for the championship, but money is money.

I know I'd be pissed if my budget were suddenly $23 million higher next year than I thought it'd be.

The only one I like is # 4. We still have a need for a SG though.

Ech! I don't like any of those trades. You might get back some decent players but none of them will put the Rockets over the top. They simply make the Rockets a slightly better team all while taking on huge, overpaid contracts. That's fine if you want the Rockets to continously be a mediocre team but I think it would be better to let TMac expire and rebuild than to go the quick fix route.

Rashard Lewis would fit perfectly with The Rockets. The thing they are missing the most is a knockdown shooter. They miss that more than a big man. Ariza can't shoot a lick. Brooks is what he is, a streaky player. Battier hits the occasional 3. Buddinger hasn't been the same since injury. When the defense collapses, they don't have a single guy that can consistently be a threat from out there.

And being overpaid is a matter of opinion. He is overpaid in Orlando with the numbers he is putting up, but before he came to Orlando, he was consistently putting up 20+.

Honestly though, if Orlando was smart, they would counter that offer with McGrady involved so they can clear that $22+ and make a run at Lebron James. Imagine Lebron/Howard/Carter...

Overpaid is not a matter of opinion where 20 million is concerned. Even if Rashard consistently puts up 20 ppg, its still overpaid if he's earning 20++million dollars. Rashard is the 4rth best player on their roster, yet he's making superstar money.

Do you realize he's making 8 million more than guys like Danny Granger, Iggy, LMA and 5 mill more than Brandon Roy? LOL

I hope Yao looks around when he becomes a free agent. So many users here don't appreciate or understand what he does really well for this team. Yao needs to certainly entertain other teams, just to see what's out there. As a player your number one goal should be championships...period. Not necessarily loyalty to one team. It's great to be loyal, but is Houston the best place for him to get a ring? Remains to be seen.

We're not missing a knockdown shooter the most. We don't need another guy chilling outside the arc waiting to pull the trigger. Can anyone fathom the offensive prowess of a Brooks-Ariza-Battier-Lewis-Andersen?

I would take anything that Dick Justice has to say about the Rockets with a grain of salt. He doesnt now what he's talking about. Feigan on the other hand still thinks we have a chance at landing Iguodala.

Wow, the fact that you even mention Granger and Iguodala in the same conversation as Lewis. Lewis is a clutch player and one of the last few pure shooters available. You also can't include Brandon Roy in the conversation if you are going strictly on money. Roy is still into his original deal. He will command at least 15 million per, and probably more. He is really the only player you mentioned that is worthy of mentioning in the same conversation with Lewis talentwise. I would take him over Lewis.

And saying he is the 4th best player on Orlando is a huge stretch unless you are simply looking at stats. You are putting him after friggin' Jameer Nelson??? You have got to be joking.

The bottom line is, he shouldn't be getting $20+ million, but that is the market, that is what others are getting, and at the end of the day, if you are The Rockets and you need that outside scorer and you are about to lose the best player you have had in the last 10 years in McGrady, it's a trade worth making. Lewis is going to be better than anything they are going to find on the free agent market that they could actually sign.
