Parker passes when he has no other options plus he plays with duncan. Go and find all those playmaking pgs with rings and compare that to the others. None of the trangle pgs are playmakers and parker is a shotmaker. Billups is mr big shot so that leaves rondo. Making shots or creating tilts are just as much playmaking as making a pass. Brooks is the only guy on the rockets who can get a shot under any circumstance.

What can he do besides shoot? We all know he is a poor finisher when he is able to penetrate. He has very little ability to get to the foul line. He shies away from contact when he does penetrate, preferring to toss up that circus shot or fall into a step back jumper. He is a porous defender and has poor court vision. If he is hot, he can cause all sorts of problems due to his range and speed. However, when he is in a slump and opponents no longer need to respect his shot, he is about as useful as a fart in a space suit. His stats are very telling as well. 40% of his shots come from beyond the arc and the remaining. The remaining shots, he only makes 45.4% of them. This means that he is a very poor finisher once he penetrates. He also has a very bad TO/A ratio and is not able to pass twice without turning the ball over once. We kept him as a starter because we needed scoring last season. Please enlighten me on what else he can do for us when his scoring is not needed much anymore?

how the hell does he have 3500 posts in under a year? I find it hard to post more than 5 sarcastic posts a day without being a total d.ick.

last year skews his a/TO ratio. Everytime he passed to ariza, it counted as a TO.

Brooks is no different from the typical NBA player. He doesn't know when to talk and when to remain quiet. This guy's Basketball IQ is marginal, and now, we are seeing signs that his real life IQ isn't that high either.

Brooks is an undersized shooting guard who has no clue how to run an offense. He's valued around 6M. He is not the type of player you build around. He's not an All-Star, just a good but limited player.

Its been repeated over and over in every thread where either Brooks or Lowry is ever mentioned.

People get informed, they forget or ignore and then regurgitate the same tired arguments over and over again.

You can't see the big picture, you don't understand how all the pieces on the floor fit together. You can't visualize how just a players presence on the floor create opportunities elsewhere, despite the ball never touching thier hands. Its either all that or you are just plain stubborn.

If Lowry were the better player he would be starting, simple as that. He isn't, hes not, he won't, because their are huge holes in his game which can't be easily hidden or compensated for.

Brooks has his flaws, but they can be hidden, and his strengths more than make up for them.

Kyle is not overpayed, Morey does not overpay someone who he doesn't believe can contribute.

And Brooks should not be paid what Scola is getting, that is ridiculous.

Is leebigez still pretending to be an insider?

If Aaron Brooks is one-dimensional, is Derrick Rose zero-dimensional?

    Agree...
But don't misunderstand me, Brooks has very good qualities and knows how to use them, BUT...for a contender, a more team oriented player is needed...

That's why I proposed several deals I'll repost some info I posted in other thread, for the ones who didn't see it....

FIRST deal Brooks+Jeffries+fillers (Chuck probably) for Igoudala...

Then Rockets would need another PG....then do it in another trade (or in one single 3-way trade) Battier (interesting and Expiring) for Hinrich....

There are first and second round draft picks to ease the trades as needed.....so, in a very realistic possibility, the roster could end being:

PG:Hinrich, Lowry + Teodosic (proposed by me, using LLE+chinese shoe contract for paying him, no buyout needed AFAIK)
    SG:Martin, Lee
    SF:Igoudala, Budinger
    PF:Scola, Patterson
    C:Yao, Miller + 3rd C (hopefully Dampier)

Check the perimeter, same offensive potential WITH BETTER D AND COURT VISION.....

Don't you think this would be a title contender?

Say what you want about about Billups making big shots, he is still pass first PG. Magic Johnson was also a pass first PG. Either way, any team that did win a ring with a score first PG usually have a great player that can carry the team; such as Jordan, Olajuwon, Garnett/Pierce, Bryant, and Duncan. Historically though, PG dependent teams usually don't make it far in the playoffs to begin with, because once they sit the offense usually falls apart. However, on PG dependent teams, playmaking PG's have better success than scoring PG's.

I don't think Teodosic will leave Europe to play in the NBA as a 3rd string PG for less money. Also, 76'ers are not in a hurry to trade AI 2.0 unless we are willing to take on Brand's HORRIBLE contract.

Brooks is a nice player but to win a title you need at least two or three efficient scorers. For those scorers to be efficient you usually need a PG who can get them the ball in places where they can be most efficient. Brooks is neither an efficient scorer nor a guy who gets efficient scorers the ball in the places they need it.

Brooks doesn't fit (at least not as a starter) if your team wants to contend. What Brooks is is a player who an be an offensive "band aid" like he was for last year's squad or a gunner off the bench on a good team who is ok to play 30 minutes one night and 12 the next depending on how hot he is from the field. That's a valuable guy to have but it's not a guy you have to have to contend.

I would absolutely love having Hinrich on my team.

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Tb6kfnePBZ8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Tb6kfnePBZ8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

His defense is pretty good and he can shoot lights out from beyond the arc.

This is the same thing that happened to Vernon Maxwell going to the 95 season:

The lack of specificity really hurts your argument.

Lets see...completely made up and arbitrary number, but whatever, lets run with it.

Yao is effecient, Scola is effecient, Martin is effecient. Battier and Brooks are both effecient from where most of thier shots come from (3pt)

Except our offensive system creates the open looks, not the PG. This is probably the single most over used and terribly wrong theory in any Brooks debate.

    .

Brooks is effecient from three which is exactly what you want with a Yao centric offense. What effecient scorer was he supposed to get the ball too last year, in his first year as starter? Was it Ariza or Hayes?

Pretty much the opposite, he fits perfectly, as a starter anyway.

Last year, was an aberation from our entire system. Please direct me the source of things you need in order to contend, I must of missed this article or book.

Chenji, did u see billups prior to detroit? I'm assumming you didnt by ur comments. Billups was known as a score first pg and even in detroit he was like that until he matured and had other options. Still he's known as Mr. Big Shot. Having the ability to make shots and create shots in the playoffs and late in games is why Brooks is probably the most valuable right now.

You asked what does brooks do when he's not hitting? He does what chris johnson do to a defense before he breaks loose. Teams continue to tilt the defense because his explosion off the dribble collapses the defense. Even if he misses, the defense collapses and creates offensive rebounds. His ability to create his own shot off the dribble under durress is also huge. Martin, chase, nor any other rocket can do that.
