If Paul wants to go to Portland and thinks he can win a championship...he should strongly consider Houston, we beat them in a 7 game series with a healthy Yao and we'd do again with or without Chris Paul on that team :p

I just don't understand why people are so quick to throw Brooks away. I understand that at this point he is no CP3 as far as court vision and passing ability (and may never be), but Brooks is still developing whereas I feel Paul has reached his ceiling. Brooks IMO has a better mid and 3pt shot than Paul which I would argue is more important to this team than his overall play making ability (especially when playing with the starting unit). We have Lowry to push the tempo and penetrate when playing with the second unit, this is really where Paul is significantly better than Brooks.

I would just like to see the MIP version of Brooks and Yao on the floor running that PNR before considering giving away some one who I feel has only scratched the surface of his potential in Brooks. Brooks' speed coming of the PNR combined with the fact that the defender can't play soft or go under the pick because they know Brooks is deadly from the 3pt line, puts tremendous amounts of pressure on the defense. Pair that with Yao's range and ability to finish once he gets the ball in good position off of the PNR and you have a recipe for success.

Paul is a great talent, one that Morey prob wouldn't be able to pass on if Paul did say he would consider coming to the Rockets, but I am off the opinion that considering our teams style of play he just isn't that significant an upgrade and I would rather give Brooks the time to develop.

I like AB & KL's characters much more than CP3's character-- and they aren't chopped liver. I'd rather see DM acquire Granger.

This has been rehashed time and again, but it does not matter if CP3 wants to play in Houston or not. He is under contract with New Orleans and does not have a baseball "no trade" clause. If Houston offers the best deal and New Orleans takes it, he plays in Houston or not at all.

    Three big problems:
    - New Orleans will likely not even trade him. They will find some way to mend the fences and he'll exit in a sign and trade in 2 years. At that point he controls his destination.

    - Houston is a division rival, so if any other offer comes even close to Morey's they will have the upper hand.

    - You can't give up too much. With Yao as a big question mark, if the Rockets end up giving up half their current starters, then its a wash and we are right back where we started...non-contenders. AND, Paul is in no better situation than he was in New Orleans and will leave in 2 years anyhow. Brooks/Martin/Ariza + picks is probably too much to give up. Now, Brooks/Ariza/Hill/Buddinger + 1 pick, you do it. We would likely have to absorb some sort of bad contract as well.

I understand the rule of thumb that you don't send players to the same conference, but this rule gets broken all the time. I think its a preference, but if a team's offer is too good, are you supposed to take less because you will play him 2 more times a year? It doesn't really make sense.

I like his argument that because Patrick Patterson and Brad Miller (in addition to Yao, Martin and Hill) weren't on the Rockets 2009 training camp, their presence in camp this year will improve team defense.

That's such stupid logic. If it were the case that every new acquisition at camp improved team defense, then team's defense would improve every year ad infinitum.

Grrr.... I'm a little angry with myself for taking time to post why Dick Justice is r****ded.

I look at CP3 stats and compare it to Brooks. Overall, CP3 is better so i don't mind getting CP3 as long as we don't give up key players. If they want Brooks, they have to take back some contracts like Hill and Anderson. Brooks, Jeffries, Hill, Anderson and Hayes will work.

THEY have to take back some contracts?? As if the Rockets have the upper hand in negotiations?? If anyone HAS to do anything in a trade for Chris Paul, it will be the Rockets, or whatever team he ends up with. The Rockets will be the ones taking back bad contracts if this deal happens (not crossing my fingers). Don't get me wrong, Brooks is a nice player and he should get even better, but, he is not Chris Paul. The only part of his game that is superior to Paul's is his 3 point shot.

Please... Duncan is declining fast... he is no longer a top 3 PF in this league.

    Bosh
    Gasol
    Dirk

    Those are the top 3

some of you are nuts, stars win championships. CP3 is a star, a game changer. he would instantly be the best player on our team. i mean, i love our team as it's currently assembled, but if you can get chris paul, you gotta do what it takes.

Thats not too much to give up... If you give up Brooks,Martin, and Ariza, you will then be looking at a starting lineup of
    Paul
    Budinger
    Battier
    Scola
    Yao

    That's pretty dang good...

Some of you really need to lay off Dick.

Is the article great? No... Of course not, it was written by Justice. On the other hand it was at least readable. It wasn't jaded, cynical, accusatory, and altogether asinine like most of his articles. Couple this with his piece about Charles Spencer from earlier in the week, which may be Justice's best article ever, and you have to say he is on quite the roll. Two in a row is a landmark achievement for him.

You heard it here first. Dick just might be on the rise.

Pretty good list, but at this point, you would have to put howard ahead of yao at the center position....just due to the time he's been on the court and the fact that he's just so dominant at his position....maybe not the most skilled player in terms of being all around, but ahead of yao at least to start to the season....

for shooting guard...you could easily make a case for roy or joe johnson as the last guy on your list, but that's debatable (notwithstanding johnson's mental collapse in the playoffs)

    for sf....defenitely really can't argue

for pf....you could get into a debate as to pau or stoudemire being on your list...but I'm going to go with stoudemire until I see how he plays without steve nash....then that will determine whether I still rank him ahead
