His agent is going to calmly explain to him that if he provides a list to Toronto he is severely impairing his future team by creating a bidding war and stripping them of unessesary assets.

The bidding war will exist when GMs make thier pitch to Bosh. "You will be first option" , "Check out our beaches!", "We have the most talent", "Dont you want to play with Durant", "Heres a montage video of all our local celebrities saying how awesome it would be for you to be in Houston", "Check your email, theres 100,000 rocket fans asking you to sign here" etc. etc.

The key is to convince him this is the best place for him, not elsewhere. I think a good tactic is for Morey to use is to skip a Lebron pitch all together. On July first, when everyone is on Lebrons doorstep, be the only team at Bosh'es house. Use that in your reasoning: "Chris, we don't want Lebron, you are our guy". The key is to make sure you are at the top of the list.

After all the pitches have been made, the agent will say, Chris give me your top three locations. The agent will take that info and try and get the deal done with Toronto's front office. Colangelo has already said they will work with Chris to get a deal done whether he stays or not, so thats a clue to thier mindset. The Raptors wont hardball, because the agent can use Miami/LAC/NY as a bluff. He will say something like "Chris really wants to be in Houston, but if you arent willing to accomodate him, we will have to view this as a hostile situation, and look for a solution in NY or Miami". The thought of getting nothing back is worse than him leaving. After all those techniques, if a deal still cant be done, then they might move to the second team on the list. In order for it to come that though, Morey would have to either offer next to nothing of value whatsoever or the agent would have to be extremely incompotent.

@Bima - Can we use the "Keith Van Horn" loop hole at all with any of our guys? Mutumbo or Barry? I never quite knew how that worked.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of that though.

I am only theorizing that Bosh has other plans than just Houston though.

Yes, with Mutombo. No with Barry, since the Rockets actually waived him.

The issue with using Mutombo, though, is that he was only making the league minimum, so I think you may have some BYC issues if you re-sign him to a much larger salary for trade filler purposes. Van Horn had come off a big money deal and did not have that problem. The Cavs still have this advantage with a guy like Szczerbiak.

According to ShamSports.com, the Rockets have never actually renounced their rights to the following players, each of whom could technically be included (if signed-and-traded) in a trade this summer:

    Jake Tsakalidis
    Maciej Lampe
    Torraye Braggs
    Mark Jackson
    Dikembe Mutombo

Only Big Jake could be signed to a more-than-insignificant amount, but I'm guessing that he's just going to continue to enjoy playing over in Europe and counting the money he's already made.

True. Maybe I should back off my earlier statement a little.

I think Washington viewed Randy Foye as a potential star who just was not the right fit in Minnesota. Plus, Mike Miller was a high quality veteran. Guess the Wiz just overestimated on Foye.

LOL Randy Foye's "potential" has cost teams a ton of good players.

I wonder who and what the Raptors would want for Bosh? Any thoughts?

The Black Joe Johnson and the Black Chris Bosh?

They would want to start out with Bud and Hill.

I think they would want the moon, but thats where Morey's brilliance comes into play.

DM is fantastic at understanding exactly what other teams want and offering just enough to make them say yes.
