Good. The Mavs are would make this kind of deal... Smart of DM the GM to stay away from trash. Keep waiting, someone will bite.

(If not, we might be 5+ years away from contending...)

Fingers crossed for Kevin Martin or Troy Murphy. Would settle for Wilson Chander.

I think I would rather have Wilson Chandler than either of those players.

Troy Murphy and Kevin Martin would easily make the "All ****ty defensive team". :)

Even if he makes no moves at the deadline he didn't necessarily screw it up. You can't determine that until you see what he does in the off-season.

And guess what, the deadline is still five days away.

I think we are a LONG way from contending. While the Rockets are trying to find a side kick to Yao, whose on the downside of his career, other teams are STACKED with allstar caliber players. Two stars is not getting it done anymore to contend with the best.

Don't panic people. We still have lots of options. Here's just one I can think of that could easily happen.

Trade Shane and Andersen to Cleveland for Ilgouskus, cash and a second rounder.

Buy out Ilgouskus and let him return to Cleveland.

Rockets would have (give or take) 30 million in salary without Lowry and Scola. If Bima is correct, the salary cap will be at about 60 million leaving us 30 under cap.

Resign one of the two (Lowry or Scola) then offer Joe Johnson or Bosh near max contracts and see who bites. If you feel the need to you can still go into luxury tax to resign Lowry or Scola.

And before anyone thinks this is something against Shane, it isn't. I love the guy but I know that moving his contract would benefit us greatly this summer. Also, he is redundant with Ariza.

This will also allow us to develop Budinger, Taylor and Dorsey this season. We'll lose more, sure, but it won't be for lack of trying to win.

Why can't we just trade for a Glock and some hollow points. This season didn't have to be thrown away just to get a bigtime free agent. We still have a few days left until the deadline but unless we get something of significant worth I will be very disappointed in Morey this year.

Look, I was all for getting Butler but let's not get out of hand. I'm a little disappointed but let's have a little more faith in Morey. He did get us out of first round in almost a decade. Many of the players we love on our roster are also credited to Morey.

Don't be spoiled, there are so many worse GMs in the league.

some of you want DM to make a move for the sake of making a move.

    i don't get it.

if we don't get what we want out of this, no sense in ****ing up our future cap situation - especially with 2011 looming (possible lockout, new cap and salary rules?).

and we're STILL 5 days away from the deadline.

People should be prepared for possibly nothing happening in terms of trading McGrady. Think logically, people wouldn't generally trade something of good value for basically garbage. Are we willing to take on horrible contracts or even giving up some of our young talents who could be the future of the team?

I agree, you don't want to end up like Detroit.

I'm disappointed for a couple reasons. I would have liked to had Butler and Haywood for two reasons, one it would have given us a couple more assets for a possible sign & trade for a big fish in the offseason, two I believe it would have made us much better for this year having a solid defender in Butler while he can score without dominating the ball. Haywood would have given us legit size and defense down low.

I didn't think it was a must to get these guys, but it may make things more difficult to make a deal if Morey was using this to show teams we had more options. So that in itself to me is disappointing.

I really hope if a deal is not made that we don't buy Mac out. I think he may be more valuable in a sign & trade before next season. He won't like it but I really don't care what he thinks at this point

Let's just hope Something Solid gets done so The T-Mac era can finally be over

If we are truly going to wait until the summer for the splash, then we need to dump Battier now for expirings, and be real players this summer.
