Morey's words not mine...he's said sign and trade is an option this summer....and i'm pretty sure adelman will do whatver les and morey tell him to do, regardless of how he feels about tmac personally.

When? Oh, when he paid to extend McGrady's contract and make him one of the top five highest paid players in the league?

    Yeah. Damn cheapskate.

Drama Queens.. Why are some of you guys so amped on something happening? when NOTHING happens I hope we don't find some of you here face down in the kiddie pool. Calm down.. This is a good thing.. Now that probably no one will get moved by the deadline.. no one will be in fear and we can get back to playing rockets basketball.. I can wait.

Read on Realgm Dallas gets Caron, Haywood and Stevenson for Josh Howard, Gooden, and garbage. thank goodness we don't have to play them again..

Mavs, Wizards Have Tentative Trade In Place

Perhaps. I wouldn't know that well, as I wasn't a serious Rockets fan then. But Dawson definitely wasn't cheap, throwing money to such wonderful players as Stromile Swift and Kelvin Cato during the Francis years. Look how that turned out for him.

i dont know if morey meant tmac was an option as a sign and trade, or he meant in general, meaning that lowry and scola are as well...but he usually mentioned it when speaking about tmac...perhaps they can combine them, not sure if that's possible...

and there's always the option of playing him to raise his stock...assuming he's got more left than he showed.

Okay, well, now you're just talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Which is it? Is he cheap? Or is he not smart about paying for an overall winner?

If he doesn't pay big bucks for a top player, he's cheap.

If he blows too much salary on too few players, he's not putting together a winning team.

It sounds like Les can do no right by you.

I don't even understand what this means, but since Swift and Cook earn more than Scola, they're better?
Frankly, if the Rockets are going to win by outbidding, we will never win a championship. We're no match for the Lakers who don't have to worry about such trivial matters like payroll with all the media/advertising/ESPN homolust they have and will continue to get nor the Mavs who are led by a playboy jackass who won't hesitate to create 90 million + teams. Consequently, for now, we have to outthink them and get cheap talents, which Morey has done.

Fils de pute! I mean Butler isn't extremely amazing , but I'd like to see some change. Mac playing somewhere and getting a decent two. Bosh is practically a no, seeing some of the comments he made. I guess there is still Iggy?

    That is NothingButaDream.

    Stop while your behind.

Les hasn't been perfect in his decision-making but that is true of every owner of every team in every major sport. He certainly isn't cheap even if he isn't the top spender. He has actually spent well above average compared to the rest of the league during his tenure as owner.

Morey will also make some mistakes as does every GM of every team from time to time. CD certainly made his share of blunders, including signing a number of players to ridiculous contracts that kept the Rockets from making serious moves before trade deadlines and during free agency periods for several seasons. If anything, it was those CD blunders that prevented the organization from going after better role players during the peak of the Yao/McGrady era.

It was only recently, after a couple of years of Morey making shrewd decisions with thoughts toward the future, that we finally got out from under some of those bad contracts while avoiding getting ourselves into more of them. Once this Me-Mac saga is completely over, Morey will have a realtively clean slate to work with for the first time so it's way too early to thoroughly judge his abilities as a GM. Wait until he has a signficant track record and is able to fully put his fingerprints on the team building process without having to deal with the lingering effects of his predecessor before trying to pass judgment.

the only problem i have with that is we're collecting a bunch of 2nd rounders and international players, we don't have anyone who can take over. we have no one. AB is very inconsistent, and Landry isn't Amare. we have a few players that can play, but we don't have PP, KG, RA... nowhere near that and we don't have the assets to get players like that. and chances of yao coming back healthy and being able to play again full strength is slim to none IMO.
