You must have some kind of selective reading.

I said that Iggy was BETTER than Butler but Dalembert was a poison pill The Rox would not do.

so, NOBODY THAT WORKS FOR THE ROCKETS would trade for BOTH players.

    simple enough for you?

You said the trade for Iggy AND Dalembert was better than the trade for Caron and Haywood.

Morey's doing the smart thing. Do not sacrifice a very bright future for a spot on ESPN's top 10 highlights of the day.

Letting McGrady's contract is good for the team as well. Despite what many believe here, I think the Rockets will land one of the big names in the 2010 free agency (if they do not trade McGrady).

Our role players are winning basketball games. This team is set up to welcome a superstar to put them over the top. With Morey on board, the Rockets have figured out a way to put a good team together without breaking the bank.

Morey won't commit to any contract that large especially for a overpaid player like Deng.

Any player Morey has ever committed to never had a contract longer than 3 years. Brooks was on a four year contract so I wouldn't count that, Ariza actually holds the longest contract Morey has ever committed to.

Rockets won't have enough for a max player if they just let McGrady expire.

Houston is attractive but the talks of a lockout are going to kill any chance we have at signing any big name.

Rudy Gay is the closest to a big name I see us signing but chances are that Memphis matches.

    Manu time?

I said I'd prefer Iguodala bc he's playing better than Butler, and that Haywood being better than Dalembert was very debatable.

You loved Butler. The Rockets want(ed) Iguodala the whole time.

If we shed assets and take on Iguodala and Dalembert you'll have some awesome quotes.

And thus the reason the Rockets never went anywhere with him as GM.
Check out is most noticable achievements with the Rockets:

they can't buy him out...it removes the option of signing him and trading him....playing him may actually now be a good option. If he raises his value enough they can re-sign him at a siginificant amount and trade him

Sign and trade?... whose going to trade for him when they don't know what he's capable of are what he's worth.

Playing him isn't an option any more because Adelman wants no part of him(due to personal issues) and he's the guy running things around here.

Well, yes. When 45 million is going to an injured guy and a wimp, you generally have to be cheap with what's left. News at 11.

    Great post.

I think the highlighted portion very accurately describes Morey's general methodology.

I suppose all GMs look at it that way to various degrees but I get the feeling that Morey focuses on it to a greater extent than most and will probably prove to be better at it than most when all is said and done.
