Says you. It's people like you that hold their specks of overplayed yawners at a high standard that overrates them. I'll give The End its credit. The rest are just standard jukebox tunes ready to be played for old people to reminisce. Their body of work can prolly fit in a compilation mini CD, and can be found in the bargain bin. Break on Through and Light my Fire are the Enter Sandman of that generation, ok songs that were put on infinite repeat. Out of the bands you mentioned, The Pixies are the only ones I respect and they were influenced more by the Beatles, they said so themselves. The rest - bleh. End rant. Back to thread.
Oh, so you don't think anything of X, Genesis, or Pearl Jam? Well, that says it all. Hey, it's music, everyone has a right to their opinion, it's just unfortunate that you equate "overplayed" and "infinite repeat" as reasons for groups to be overrated or "not good", as if the artists have anything to do with being overplayed. But, you know, doesn't surprise me- it's why the Sex Pistols are in the R&R Hall of Fame and Rush isn't- total crap (and I like them both). End rant. Ditto. Go Rockets!!!!!!
Anyone who doesn't acknowledge the Doors as one of the greats probably has the back street boys on their I-pod.
