Wasn't Boozer a second rounder as well? If rockets ended up with the seconding coming of Boozer, damn! :D :D :D

Thanks for explaining this. Even if Clutch's post makes it a moot point.

This could be annoying in the offseason though. If Landy keeps it up, the Rocekts will be forced to spend a very good chunck of that MLE to keeping him. Meaning we won't have the money to sign an impact FA.

Is Carl Landry's rookie contract a standard 2nd round contract? It should be 2 years and 2nd year a team option, right? Most teams will wait until the end of 2nd year to offer an extension when the rookie becomes an restricted FA.

then we wouldn't be able to resign him... hope we can lock him down for a few years w/o completely using up the MLE, but he may be worth it at this rate. i don't want to lose landry

I don't think other teams worry about many players on the Rockets except TMac and Yao. Well, they have another. If they don't account for him, he makes them pay. This kid is especially good for Yao.

If Landry turns out like a Boozer or Cwebb, who cares about signing an impact FA? Both those guys are 1000000x better than anything MLE will give you, c.f. Swift, Stromile, Wellz, Bonzi and Anderson, Derek.

from Rockets.com story of last night's win.

Yao: Yao hopes Landry has another big night -- even though he doesn't quite agree that the rookie should have two homecomings.

"Hometown doesn't count as college," Yao said. "But whatever makes him feel better."

    What a funny guy....
