How about just looking back at Tracy's history? He had a terrible run in Toronto. He had a terrible run in Orlando. He's having a terrible run in Houston and it looks like it's about to end. What exactly is so surprising here if you actually sit back and look at the guy's career? He's a career loser and the sooner he's gone, the better.
How is T-Mac being a loser a non-factor? It's obviously not the only factor, but it's going to be a big one. As for revisionism yes T-Mac made it clear that he wasn't going to re-sign in Orlando. At the same time they made zero effort to pursue him/change his mind. Why? Go back and look at that Weisbrod interview where he lists all of T-Mac's deficiencies, in glorious detail. Detail that Rockets fans are only too familiar with.
How? He took teams composed of guys mainly not even in the NBA regularly to the playoffs. "But they didn't win anything!" Yea well "Yeah, there's a lot of factors that go into a basketball game. They're complicated animals. You conveniently ignoring the circumstances surrounding his teams just exposes ur blatant bias. see above. It's more than apparent that your extreme hatred for the guy clouds any rational analysis you may have brought to this discussion.
I don't hate the guy, I just want him gone. If he's out of Houston I won't ever think of him again unless he's still playing and the Rockets go up against his team. Then I'll watch him sitting on the bench, watching the game on the jumbotron, in his warm-up's, and feel sorry for the guy. You on the other hand are a card carrying member of his fan club. T-Mac's stints on all of his previous teams ended badly, with animosity on both sides. His stint in Orlando was a failure because he never tasted playoff success. His stint in Houston is going to be remembered in the same way. And again, there are a lot of factors that go into games. Some of them are bigger than others. When your star players is a career loser I'd say that's pretty big.
When did I say him being a loser was a non-factor? I said you are ignoring the factors into why he has been a loser. IE: he has played with almost NBDL level talent. My point was in stating your self-contradiction in selectively applying your principle of multiple factors impacting in a given outcome. You say that's the case with our team but then you conveniently ignore other factors surrounding Tracy's success rate. 1. since when did john weisbrod become a credible authority on anything basketball related? aside from drafting dwight howard and nelson, the guy made nothing but horrible moves for that team. 2. when was the interview? i'm sure it was after the trade, and not while he was still on the team. you don't think sour grapes had a little bit to do with it? seriously? you think he would have come out and trashed tracy if there was any chance they could keep him?
i don't know how DD and badgerfan came to the conclusion that he had a terrible run in toronto. toronto actually BEGGED him to resign with them but he wanted to go to orlando. how is that a bad thing? besides this year, the only bad year in his career was his last yr in orlando, which kobe bryant has experienced himself. this has been a bad year for mcgrady, a really bad year and he deserves most of the criticism that is going his way b/c he really behaved unprofessionally and immature this year. but then to use THIS YEAR and basically trashes his entire career, now that's just absurd. he had carried this team many times when yao went down, basically elevating his game to another level. he fought through multiple injuries during his tenure here and came back (until this year). and despite all that, he's been our best player throughout all those years. at least appreciate the guy somewhat. damn.
I want him gone too because it's clear that he's washed up and has much greater value to this team as an expiring contract. You clearly are incapable of making this distinction between the present and the past. Actually, unlike some here, I don't base my observations upon emotional inclinations like a 12 year old schoolgirl. Because I'm merely defending good logic and the actual account of what took place on this team, I must be his biggest fan? Yea that makes alot of sense. Of course, the guy's a total douchebag. Noone really has questioned that. That's the difference between you and I. I can recognize that the guy is garbage now, that the team is better without him now, that he is a douche when he opens his mouth, etc etc etc without letting those observations filter into the rest of my analysis. You apparently have a one-tracked paradigm where the only shades are black and white.
NBDL talent like Yao Ming? T-Mac's gone from team to team to team and he's consistently lost. I'd take that as an indication that the problem might be with McGrady and not his teams. Oh, is that all he did? What I remember is Weisbrod catching heat from Magic fans for not making an effort to keep McGrady, so in light of that I would say that his statements about why he didn't make an effort are credible.
Just because he is backing up his arguments doesn't actually mean he is a tracy mcgrady only fan. I don't understand why guys jump to the conclusion of this. One person knocks on one guy and another person tries to defend him and all of a sudden they are fans only. LOL thats funny. I love how guys are comparing a Healthy Ron to a one legged T-Mac. All I can say is look at their resume and that's it. ThaCabbage and T_Mac1 made some great points. Much respect to those guys.
Yes, and I can't believe I'm arguing about McGrady with a couple of guys whose forum nicks are "TMac4Life#1" and "T_Mac1".
Lakers are considered favorites because of Pau Gasol. How quickly people forget. The Lakers last year were on pace for another 1st round exit (due to Kobe trying to carry the team and hogging the ball like always in the playoffs), but then the Gasol trade happened and changed everything. Before this trade, the subject of conversation was Kobe throwing Bynum under the bus with that cell phone video, and trade rumors involving Bryant.
Yao was there with Tmac too, he has to take some of the blame, but I would rather have a teamwork system based upon Yao as the focus than one based around Tmac. This is a circular argument with no hope of reconciliation - there are people that believe Tmac had no choice but to dominate the ball and there are others that think a team approach, regardless of teamates, is a better approach. It is a non-winnable argument from anyone...... And Cabbage, to answer your question....YES, Tmac should have allowed Sura, Wesley, Barry, James et all to create as well...that is what I would have wanted. It is a stylistic argument more than anything else. DD
we're going in circles here guys. we know these for a fact: 1) artest IS better than tracy mcgrady this year 2) tracy mcgrady acted wrongly this year and deserve most of the criticism this year. 3) the team has moved on and i agree the team should trade him in the offseason before next year starts so we don't have any speculation about what ifs and stuff. 4) and the team IS better without mcgrady this year. but again, let's not diss a guy who's: 1) been our best player since he's been here 2) has done more for this team in these last 4 years than any other player, including yao ming 3) has fought through multiple injuries and still did well for us (until this year) 4) and had been an all-nba player for his years here. but from this post, if i didn't follow the rockets, i feel tmac was a douchebag every year he had been here and did jack.
No need to argue. It's pointless. What's the point of who is better its obvious who the answer is . But seriously what difference does it make who is better. They are both on the same team so who cares.
Frankly, I'm not sure how the past is relevant. What matters is this year, this team and this coach. And the biggest issue is that T-Mac does not fit in Adelman's offense. I didn't say you're his biggest fan. On the other hand it's pretty obvious to me that you're a card carrying member of his fan club. Gee, so maybe the fact that he's a douchebag might negatively impact his relations with his teammates? Maybe that's part of the reason he's never won anything? Or is this douchebaggery a recent development on Tracy's part?
