    1) Ok, $3 mil over the salary cap.
    +3

    2) Ok $4 mil.
    +4

    3) $5 mil raise for Scola? Other teams will not be able to offer Scola more than the MLE. That's $2.5 mil raise over his $3.4 million salary to $5.9. I highly doubt anybody with cap space will give Scola an $8.4($5 mil raise) salary.
+$2.5 mil raise(use all of the MLE)

    4) Ok $2 mil for Lowry
    +2 mil

    5) Cook is gone. $3.5 mil
    -$3.5 mil

    6) Barry is waived, but contract is gone after this year.
    -$2 mil

    7) League revenue is expected to drop 2% and the cap is expected to drop from $69.9 to $68.5. Rockets have to pony up $1.4 mil.
    +1.4 mil

    8) mid teens draft pick signing $1.5 mil

    3 + 4 + 2.5 - 3.5 - 2 + 1.4 + 1.5 mil = $ 6.9 mil over the cap

It's $6.9 mil as the worst case scenario, assuming Scola gets the full MLE and the team options are used on Dorsey and Hayes.

    $14 million is pretty high.

    Tipjar-$50

I like the rumor of the 3-team trades with NY and Washington or whoever.
The WA rumor might give us Jamison as the centerpiece. I could see Hill being secondary piece for the Rockets.

exactly!!!! No need to wait and sit down and watch others get better for now and the future. Yeah guys are saying its a quote on quote experimental year but if its that then lets get 23 mil to ourselves. I never knew anyone who would be eager to just throw 23mil away for garbage. Hmmm i guess they see something that fans don't see.

I doubt Morey has his eye on Hill from seeing one particular game, he sees value in the guy obviously.

Maybe to use for next years draft to move up.... just an idea.

    *shrug*

Yao has a 22' vertical. (allegedly according to Yao himself?)

    Bosh has a 33' vertical.

    Hill has a 35' vertical.

What do people expect Hill to have done so far in his rookie season? Particularly playing on a team who don't tend to give the rookies all that much burn?

He's shooting 47% from the field, 73% from the stripe. Only turns the ball over 0.4 times per contest. In 9.6 minutes he manages 4 ppg and 2.4rpg. Wow - those aren't mind blowing numbers, but he's not doing them at 22% from the field or anything.

His college numbers were monstrous - he's a tremendous rebounder with a legit turnaround jumper (a post move!) and he's quick enough to man up on the 4s of the league.
Of the Knicks big men, only Jeffries gets better defensive numbers (per 82games)

I'm completely biased since I thought he was a good prospect before the draft. I still think he's a good talent at the 4 position and I'd be very happy if we ended up with him.

Hill would be great. I imagine Scola should pack clean clothes along with Tracy? Maybe we get a third team involved and find ourselves an NBA caliber SG.

Has Iggy/Dalembert been traded? For the record, the Rockets rejected the Dalembert/Iguodala deal. Philly was willing but the Rockets did not want Dalembert's contract. The Lakers-Blazers are talking about Sasha Vujacik and Luke Walton. Please. You're getting upset because there has been one trade. One. Are you going to be pissed if we "miss out" on Luke Walton? Me neither.

Throwing in the towel? So if we don't trade McGrady, are we "throwing in the towel?" The Knicks trade would net us Jordan Hill, millions in savings, AND not cost us a core player.

I'll take Jordan Hill locked up on a rookie contract for a few more years versus trying to match whatever money Tyrus will demand and attempting to convince Brad Miller to take a backup role. We could attempt to sign Brad Miller even if we didn't trade for him, using the MLE.

So what's the bet? If the Rockets get Jamison/Hill you win? If the Rockets only get Hill I win? Push if it's not NY?

Do you really think it will be good for this team to gamble on paying 36 year old Jamison $15 million dollars in two years? Maybe we could pick up Arenas' contract while we're at it. I mean, he put up some points when he wasn't injured or pointing a gun at a teammate. That seems like a good risk/reward, right?

I think some people have trouble seeing the long view. Getting stuck in contract/cap hell is far worse than just letting T-Mac expire. Mortgaging the future in exchange for this year when the team isn't going anywhere does not qualify as a rational bargain.

March madness can have that effect. Remember DWade? Honestly though, I am not sold on acquiring a player chosen by NY in the lotto, they have all been lackluster to complete busts in the past decade with exception of possibly Nene who they traded to Denver, i.e. Mike Sweetney, Channing Frye, Gallinari and Hill.

    D'Antoni Pushing For T-Mac

Alan Hahn reports that Mike D'Antoni is pushing Donnie Walsh to acquire Tracy McGrady, who has been exiled by the Rockets.

McGrady is coming off major knee surgery and is in the final season of his contract. D'Antoni would presumably assign ballhandling and playmaking duties to McGrady in an attempt to revive a Knicks team that has fallen out of the playoff race.

Hahn states that Walsh is trying to make the deal happen and McGrady is preparing to be traded to New York.

i guess the knicks liked what they saw at the workout if d'antoni is willing to give tracy those responsibilities.

No way Budinger goes just for Hill + contracts. Hill should be the minimum price for Mcgrady alone. Budinger is worth more than Hill by himself, too.

lolwut. It's well known that all his massive flaws aside, Isiah was a good drafter, as he picked Lee, Robinson, and Ariza, among others. New York's been a decent drafting team, so I'm fine with acquiring Hill.

    For a trade with NY:

    1) Hill is the best player, no 1st round draft pick, you win.
    2) Hill is a secondary player, but the Rockets get a 1st round draft pick or player for the rotation(starter or bench player that can play 20+ min for Rockets), I win
    3) Toney Douglas is the best player, push.

For a trade with another team:

    1) Non-rotation or bench player under 20 minutes, you win.

    2) If the Rockets get back a starter, bench player that contributes 20+ minutes to the Rockets or a 1st round draft pick, I win.

I won't count Mobley, Curry, Jeffries, Bender, Larry Hughes, Marcus Landry, and Darko as better players in a trade with NY, even if they get 20 minutes a game with us. They are only trade fodder and Hill would be the best player in that case.

It's worth it. Hell yeah. How is it contract hill if his contract expires in 2 years, right before the new CBA or NBA strike.

I may have trouble seeing the long view, but in the short view I see Jamison dragging big guy help away from Yao all the way to the 3pt line and I see the 33 year old Jamison infusing some much needed offense on this offensively challenged team. 20pts and 8 boards is nothing to scoff at.

If Jamison can put up good numbers being guarded.just think of what he would put up with yao giving him open looks all game long. And for someone as slow as yao he needs all the space he can get.
