Scola isn't going anywhere. The rockets probably could put him him a trade, but given he just turned 30 I don't think other teams view him as a giant asset. He'll play 30 MPG next year for the Rockets, he might start,he might come off the bench, but he will be a Rocket.

    Hill
    Budinger
    Brooks
    Battier
    Anderson (contract)
    Jeffries (contract)
    Hayes (contract)
4 First rd picks over the next 3 years

These are the assets on the block.

i understand as a fan you want to dump all trash and get back a superstar. it won't happen very often, may be once a century. here are a few questions for you to think about. i add my answer.

has bosh picked rox? not yet

is bosh going to pick rox? 50/50

is rox the only team on his wishing list? absolutely NO

does raptors have leverage? yes in the sense of multiple teams on bosh's wishing list.

see, in a real world, nothing looks simple. when a bidding war starts after 12:01AM on July 1, you will know dumpping trash is not going to get a superstar.

What if Bosh's says "trade me to Houston, or trade me to NYC; otherwise, I'll sign with NYC outright"? Toronto has already said that they'll facilitate a sign-and-trade for Bosh if that's what he wants, so their options are really limited if he comes to them with a short list of teams that he's willing to go to.

Jonathan Feigan says the Rockets would need to send "Two out of Jeffries, Battier and Ariza, probably two out of Hill, Budinger and Taylor, and maybe a pick."

i highly suspect bosh will give one destination to raptors for S&T. if he does, it's called hijacking raptors. to do S&T, bosh and raptors have to show mutual respect to each other. otherwise, either of both can leave the negotiation table. in this case, both sides are losers.

jonathan's proposal sounds good before the bidding war starts. how much we have to give up completely depends on the bidding process. if some teams go crazy, the bidding war will become ugly. remember there are some teams who are in desperated mode to keep their star. they might go crazy to do anything to entertain their star by getting another star for him. in this case, morey may have to give up one of core to get bosh, just like landry being dealt.

I'd rather trade Shane, but I don't think the Raptors would bite on just an expiring, fillers, picks.

If the Raptors believe that Bosh will sign with another team outright if he isn't traded to a team of his choice, they will have no choice but to take the best offer they can get, even if Bosh only names one team he is willing to go to. For this reason, the Raptors may find themselves with very little leverage in negotiations.

For instance, if they were convinced that Bosh was determined to go to the Knicks, even if he had to sign as a free agent, they would have to take whatever the Knicks offered them, even if it were only a conditional second-round pick. In fact, that's exactly what the Magic sent to the Sonics in the sign-and-trade for Rashard Lewis.

Assuming there is at least one team with which Bosh would sign outright rather than re-sign with the Raptors, the Raptors have two options: take the best sign-and-trade offer available from a team that Bosh is willing to go to, or lose Bosh in free agency and get nothing.

Also keep in mind that Bosh may be less willing to go to a team if it has to give up a star player to get him. For this reason, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Bosh presents the Raptors with a very short list of acceptable teams in order to prevent the kind of bidding you're talking about.

I have no idea what you are thinking, but being on the trading block means that the team is trying to move you. There is no way that we would be trying to move C-bud, brooks, or hayes. Just because they may end up in a bigger trade via bosh deal, it does not mean that these players are on the trading block.

Post the teams with an interest in Bosh (without trying to get LeBron first). The Rockets are the only team trying to get Bosh as their first option, not second. Also, haven't seen many proposed trades by fans that send trash to Toronto for Bosh.

I'd love to pick someone nice in the draft, but I don't think Whiteside is it. I can see Morey trading up or trading down before he picks Whiteside. Guess we'll see.

It amazes me how few people realize this. It's not who the Raptors think have the best trade package, it's all on Bosh to decide where he wants to play.

It's not like he's going to give the Raptors a list of 6 sign and trade partners and tell them he will go wherever they want him to go.

July 1 is not here yet. to say rox is the only team is premature. showing interest first to a player means nothing. we saw the example last season.

no doubt, i like rox to get bosh but the question is what is the possiblity. there are so many factors, such as whether bosh believes or not rox is good enough to be a strong title contender, not just playoff bound.

Why do people keep saying this? Bosh isn't going to walk and leave $30 million on the table. He's going to leave through a sign and trade and that gives Toronto all kinds of leverage.

The decent teams out there (Houston, Dallas) can't sign Bosh outright and Toronto knows that. So the options for Bosh are basically walk and lose out on all that cash (and probably end up on a crappy team) or play ball and work with Toronto so that he can end up where he wants to be while the Raptors get something back for him.

Right now Toronto's leverage is that they can give Bosh more money and another year. You get wealthier and have longer job security. Bosh's leverage is that he can simply walk away from max money and sign with another team to be The Man and leave the Raptors with nothing. It is in the interest of both parties to work together. Assuming that Toronto does agree to do a SnT with Bosh, they have a lot of leverage at that point in time to negotiate teams that want Bosh and have assets to trade for him. This is why many believe that Houston has a very good chance of competing for Bosh. On a team filled with scrubs and role players and one emerging good player, we manage (though we did pick up Martin later on) to win over half our games when experts were picking for us to win 20-30 games.
