Players that could have helped in this series were rotting on the bench.

    New coach....fresh start......better result.

Interesting... Who is he really calling out? Maybe it is JHo, maybe it is Head? They sure let us down....
But wait who is the major disappointment this playoff series? who turned over balls in the critical point of 4th quarter in game 6? Who missed THREE defensive rebounds at the most critical moments of 4th quarter in game 7? WHO?? WHO? Not Head, Not Alston, IT WAS YAO MING!!!!

We collapsed offensively way before we missed the 3 rebounds. Alston, Battier, and Howard/chuck did absolutely nothing in the last 2-3 minutes. Also, I would only really say Yao only had a shot at one of those rebounds. Long rebounds can go either way, there's nothing you can do about it.

He's just merely pointing out the truth. We need players that can step up, and we really didn't have any apart from our two superstars who failed in crunch time.

I mean, look at the Jazz, they have Okur, Boozer, Deron Williams and AK47 to rely on. Who do we have? An unhealthy Yao and T-mac, and that's it.

Be that as it may, IF we get a talent upgrade, IF Yao improves, IF T-mac's back holds up. Lots of ifs flying around.

But consider this: This year was probably THE year for us. Dallas lost their round against the Warriors, if we only ground out a win against Utah, we'd be facing the Warriors next. I don't care how hot they are, but how many times have we seen Yao dominate the Warriors? And we'd have HCA against them no less. This was our year to get deep into the playoffs, possibly upsetting the Spurs to get to the Finals even. But no, our guys blew it.

Specifically, our role players blew it. Yao blew it with his god-awful rebounding. Tmac blew it when he failed to keep up the intensity in Utah. JVG blew it when he refused to realise that Deke dominated the entire Jazz frontline in the regular season rebounding the basketball, and Snyder would've wreaked havoc driving relentlessly - albeit boneheaded sometimes - in this physical series.

I'm not trying to over-react, but I fear our team has peaked this season, barring a front-office miracle to get around the cap.

Yao and Hakeem is long over due...I can't wait...THe surgery makes sense as you knew something was wrong with Yao getting up and down the court...

I agree that the quote wasn't a dis on t-mac, rather calling out the rest of the team...I still believe...I think these trials of hardship only payoff in the long run...I won't watch any more games until the finals, if that...

I don't think he was calling out T-Mac, but the whole team of role players...

If i were him, I'd be careful calling out T-Mac, the guy's 7'6 and couldn't grab a damn rebound in the last 4 minutes...oh yeah and his TOs don't help either.

Did he pat himself on the back? I guess not. He admitted his shortcomings, and he wanted to be better, and he wanted the team to be better. As a max player, he talked to GM how the team can get better. I guess closing games IS a big weakness of the Rockets, including Yao Ming. Is it wrong to want to be better? Or since he's no saint, he can't even HOPE to get better?!

As a max player, TMac can talk to the coach and discuss about offensive freedom. As a max player, TMac can talk to GM and Owner, about how he likes certain players. But as another Max player on the team, Yao is NOT allowed to talk to GM about getting the team better with more experience and ability to close? Except for TMac, was there anyone on the team can drive in the playoffs?

So wanting the team to get better is obviously calling out others? Maybe you love the blame game, but not Yao. Did he EVER blame anyone openly, except for himself, in ANY LOSS?

It's amazing how a lost series can show the true color of some "fans".

If V-Span and Mike James were on the court, we would have eliminated the Jazz in only 3 games. If V-Span and Mike James were in our starting 5, Jack Bauer and Chuck Norris would be sitting courtside wearing their jersies.

    quote from yao:

"Generally, CD told me from his experience, our team definitely will be getting better and I believe it. I love to believe it," Yao said. "We need more experience. We need player that can finish the game and can play under the pressure, like in the playoffs."

In fact, he didn't hit a 3 the entire series.

I'm not an Alston supporter, he needs to play less minutes but, Mike James wasn't any better than Alston this year. They both played all 82 games and had a superstar with them. Let's look at the numbers:

    James - 10 ppg
    Alston - 13 ppg

James - 3.6 assists per game
Alston - 5.5 assists per game

James - 2 rebounds per game
Alston - 3.4 rebounds per game

James - 0.6 steals per game
Alston - 1.5 steals per game

    James - 37.2 % 3-point shooter
    Alston - 36.3 % 3-point shooter

    James - 42 % FG shooter
    Alston - 37 % FG shooter

As you see, James was only significantly better in one out of those six major stats; and Alston was better than James in points, rebounds, assists, and steals per game and was barely a worse 3-point shooter.

Rafer wasn't very good this season, but Mike James wouldn't have made the Rockets any better.

You're an idiot if you think he was insulting McGrady.

McGrady had a better series than Yao, but that is besides the point.

I'm sure he wasn't calling out Tmac, but one can argue Tmac could have easily felt insulted by that statement. Even though Yao is just making a cold true statement about the team, Tmac is the designated closer of this team. Yao says the team needs a closer knowing full well Tmac is the closer currently. I'm not saying Yao meant this one way or the other, I just thought the quote was interesting to say the least. So calling someone with the very legitimate opinion of Yao calling out Tmac an idiot is not justified at all. Likewise goes for someone thinking Yao did NOT call out Tmac.

considering James has a better FG% and 3pt%, yet scored 3 less points per game...the next stat I would want to look at would be minutes...

I don't see how James could have been any less effective after looking at those numbers...Alston does a good job of setting the table in the halfcourt, but he is hardly a playmaker or a real distributor.

noone can argue that James would have been better at creating his own shot, which is something we desperately needed along yao and mac in the playoffs

As long as Yao learns some better footwork on both ends of the court. He could also use some offensive awareness.

Tell that to Yao's lateral quickness after the leg injury.

    Mike James is crap....
I don't know why everyone thinks he would have solved the rocket's problems. I thought he was awesome when he was here a couple of years back when he came off the bench.
I mean the timberwolves didn't think he was good enough to start for the last half of the season.

Mike James is cancer to the team. Look on his present team.
