Durvasa, DD said Yao never led the Rockets to a successful season. That's absurd. Other people in other threads made the claim that Yao was never a great player to begin with. By saying Yao should retire, it doesn't mean he can't play a few more solid good seasons. Not as a franchise player but certainly a supporting role. For his own personal good, it is probably wise to retire. What does he need to risk permanent injury for? Does he want to become a cripple for life?
A cripple? Let's not get dramatic here, he has cracked his navascular bone twice.... He is hardly crippled..... If he wants to sign for a small contract then sure.....but he has not been counted on for the last 5 seasons...and that says a lot. DD
Noone said Yao was never a good player. People are clearly stating that he is'nt what he used to be, but he can still be a good role player on a championship calibare franchise.
If Yao reinjures that left foot, there's a very good chance he will become a cripple, walking around with a limp. In fact, one of the reasons he had the surgery is because his doctors told him, if he didn't have the surgery, he would not be able to walk normally. Regarding your contract speculation, they are absurd. Yao Ming is not going to sign for a minimum or small contract. If he proves he is healthy this year, teams will give a heft contract. Maybe not max, but certainly not the kind T-Mac signed for.
So you mean he is going to left Rockets next season because by no means Rockets will be a championship caliber team in next couple of years.
If he is allegedly coming back friday, don't you guys think he would have been cleared to play on the court? The doctors are babying him...they need to turn him loose....Hill turned his ankle and is playing through it. They need to let Yao do the same. DD
Yeah that's right, Jordan Hill's health history = Yao's health history let's treat them equal who's with me????
Danged skippy...got to find out if Yao can be counted on or not... Sink or swim contract year....if not...move on.....got to find out though and stop babying the big fella. He is not made of glass......and if he is....well........ DD
I welcome Yao and AB; we need both Mutt and Jeff. They both bring unique assets to this team that are valuable, even if there are warts. But I trust they will not come back and play with timidity; we need hungry and aggressive play on both ends.
so has this been confirmed? or the usual bs speculation?he said she said cousin said sister said. got floor seats for the memphis game and would love to see Yao play before I die. I've bought tickets every year and Yao seems to not be playing every year.
Am I the only one who got a nice, hearty guffaw out of this post? Sorry Dakota, but even you have to admit that it was pretty funny. Yao just threw that adjective in there!
Isn't the main reason Yao is in this position with his feet because he chose to "play through the pain", instead of telling anyone?
I don't want the guy that takes nearly the entire 3 seconds to make an offensive decision in the post. I do not want the guy who lacks the foot speed to go for the rebound and hold on to it. I do not want the guy that makes no difference whatsoever but is there as a defensive and offensive pawn.
We need Yao to be healthy as he is our only hope at actually being a team that's in contention for anything! Name a superstar that wants to join the Rockets? You can't and Morey can only manage to pick up subpar players so if Yao is done then the Rockets will be mediocre at best
