People on this forum have been deluding themselves for years, the delusion is that Yao will stay healthy and lead us to the ultimate price. Won't happen, move on, time to rebuild. This team is going nowhere building around a player limited to 24 minutes, and even when he is limited he goes down after 5 games. The only person being ridiculous here is you.
Guys, I think everybody knows, including the Rockets themselves, that making the playoffs this season will be a bit of a stretch...thus this season will serve only a few purposes.. 1 of them being whether or not Yao can ever be our franchise player again or not. If he comes back, is relatively healthy all season and produces at a high rate then we will keep him as a corner stone; if Yao is continuously in and out of our lineup and never gets it going, we will move on. It's that simple, this is a moot point. This season will determine which direction the Rockets are going to go in the future.
Are you honestly referring to yourself as a voice of rationality this is what you sound like "NOOO!! STOP TALKING BAD ABOUT YAO MING, THIS BOARD GONE CRAZY, NO TALKING BAD ABOUT YAO!!" and btw, no one here hates on Yao. But everyone is tired of the endless injuries season after season. We all know he works hard, but it's just frustrating when we know one little physical contact could very well send him away for weeks or months, disrupting ourlineup.
Fat breath huh....lol....and you call me the hater. I am not tearing him down, I am just not blindly drinking his milkshake like you are... I love the guy, but the facts are the facts, he is always injured...and I don't want him anchoring down my favorite team with a large contract while he looks all nice in a new suit. If he gets healthy, great, but I don't want to sign him to a large contract with the history of his feet. If your standards are just to get to the 2nd round, then fine, mine are to get at least to the conference championship round. DD
Go back and reread your own posts and those you've complained about. I just don't see that much unjustified skepticism about Yao. You complained about DD, describing him as a Yao "hater," but until recently, he defended Yao as much as the next guy. He still defends Yao, but no longer believes he's going to make a return that will last. While I hope he and others who think that way turn out to be wrong, it's perfectly understandable that they do think that way. I'm skeptical myself. While I haven't given up on the big fella, to deny that the uncertainty surrounding his health, potential level of play going forward and, most importantly, whether he will be able to play an entire season (what's left of it) doesn't affect the team culture, the team's mentality, the team's confidence, the on-going uncertainty about individual roles going forward, and that it doesn't have a negative affect on current team performance is, with all due respect, rediculous. In fact, I think the uncertainty about Yao is having a more negative impact on team performance than DaDakota's new theory that it's "all Martin and Miller's fault." The best way to end this is for Yao to return, play strong, play significant minutes, and contribute to team success. I'll add that I've yet to see the reference to Yao returning soon, or Brooks, in the Houston Chronicle, so this entire thread may be based on what is known to be a lousy source.
Deckard, thank you for YOUR rational post. I'm not saying everyone else's post is rational, but what you wrote here is very rational and very fair.
Seriously Yao should not be starting once he comes back. Yao needs to come off the bench till he gets his conditioning back.
DD, like everyone else for the most part here, is a Rockets fan first and foremost. Nobody is down on Yao as a person and in fact his work ethic is quite admirable but at this point he is so unreliable that we true Rockets fan need some kind of closure and would just like to move on. We had Yao, paired him with Tmac, and it just wasn't meant to be. We recognize that it is time to rebuild and move beyond depending on Yao for anything at this point. Yao had his windows of opportunity with this team. 2005 and 2007 were crushing first round losses in game 7's. '07-08 was crushing because we lost him in the 12th game of the 22 game win streak and were really on a roll. '08-'09 we lose him in the playoffs after beating the eventual champ Lakers in the first game. He's out the entire '09-'10 and with so much anticipation for him to return he goes down for extended time already from a simple fall and the team is in a hole. I like so many others are just emotionally exhausted of the roller coaster ride that is Yao Ming especially when we were spoiled watching Hakeem for so many years. It's time for us to move on. Sorry YaoMingYaoMing if you just don't get it.
So by your definition, only 4 teams have a successful season each year? I think Yao taking us to the second rd for a team that hadn't been there in many years should be viewed as successful.
Ok, then by your definition it was successful, by mine it was not. And you should have some green by your name Stevel. DD
Just because some of us don't agree with you does not mean that we're irrational. I don't think you're being objective, but with your moniker, I think I know where you're coming from.
Now now, let's not pick on his name. As someone who has a player's name in their moniker and can still speak rationally about that player I protest Though I will admit to anger/defensiveness when people make him the scapegoat... cause we have a team full of people causing losses not one player.
I am starting to agree with this post. If Yao gets injured with limited minutes, then what is the use of nursing him. I say let him play, as needed by the team, and let the chips fall where they may. I think Yao is still the most important piece of this team and I agree with the management to still make Yao the centerpiece, but let the man play and go all out now.
This is ludicrous! How is it that the BL is not a credible source when they're getting their info from other credible sources? Whats with all the BL hate? So they've gotten a few rumors mixed up. Not a reason to label them "not credible". Just another sports website with an opinion. Stop hating for no good reason.
This is one of the most puzzling refrains I've heard on this site in a while. It's pretty brain-dead, honestly.
