Rockets center Yao Ming began Chinese national team practices completely out of shape and had to sit out the second day with a sore back. "We'll work through it," national team coach Del Harris said. "There are a lot of guys who think they can take a lot of time off and not have it affect them. But it's harder for big guys to get back in shape." ...

I'm telling you guys, it's the Mickey Ds.

Yao's been munching on that stuff since leaving the country. Someone's gotta take Yao to the movies to see Super Size Me before he gets fat and has to join the Laker front office.

    ;D

Ahem... at least we know he's rested. The Asian games or whatever he has to compete in should work him back into shape nicely.

I thought they were after rest. Muscle will come, but no need to tire him out constantly.

I am seriously thinking that as well. I am betting Yao thinks he can get big just by eating hamburger after hamburger.

And his parents need to stop pampering him as well.

For some reason this is not at all funny or a joke to me.......YAO to me seems to have never been in shape since we drafted him...why is this.......It was completely obvious last season he was out of shape becuz everytime he played more than 15 minutes at a time he was gaspin and hunched over like a middle aged rec league player.......

    Should we be concerned....I'm askin??????

I know hes big and yatta, yatta, yatta.....but dude has got to be ready for this year comin up..pendin the T mac deal the Rocks shoot up the standings and we are gonna really need a in shape Chinese Center to play with our new horse

Exactly. I wish Yao would get a little more fat so he doesnt have to play in the summer at all. He'll get back into shape before our training camp.

not at all worried, I'm acually glad he got rest.

But he does need to get in better shape than he has been for the 04-05 season.

I will see Yao Ming today at 5pm. I plan on taking pictures and when I get back I will let everyone know how he looks.

As I recall last year he had similar problems but worked through them. He will be back in Houston much earlier this year as the Basketball compitition will end on August 28th.
