He can take his gold watch and pat on the back and move on somewhere else. Marc gasol is 25 or so and moving forward. I never said gasol at his best is better than yao at his best, but gasol still haven't played his best and yao can't stay on the court. I like consistency to combine with talent. Now, I'm not saying gasol will be the key to the finals run, but I'm saying is he's a good piece to have and the rockets can keep building the team without worrying about that position. This would be one many of a few to try to get this team back to being a legit threat in the nba. Praying and wishing yao will be able to play close to 2 yrs ago form without disturbing the team is not a good recipe either.
Now I see your point more clearly. To speak of it, if Marc Gasol was under a decent owner I would say there's no way they let him walk, but given their economical struggles and them being even more miserly with his brother, it's not that farfetched. Marc is a solid player, but I would put his ceiling at that, right now we are basically seeing the same player as he was last year, in contrast to his growth from his rookie season . Rebounding stat-wise he has been average, although he is in one of the worse rebounding teams, his stats might be hurted by Randolph and Gay being very good at it.
now if we can get Yi somehow to compensate for Yao's market value then Les will do it.....Yi would need to be involved for Les to trade away Yao mane
Who cares about the money as long as they are on the floor contributing. What you can't have is lots of money tied up in often injured players. The team has been hampered by Tmac and Yao always being injured......well, it is time to cut that umbelical. DD
This is the last year of Yao's max contract. You know he's not going to be traded. The most we can hope is that his next contract will be reasonable. And I'm pretty sure Les cares about the money.
I know we can't seprate the Chinese market from the equation when talking about Yao but this is really about which center would you prefer and the Rox benefit from. I do think Les will cut the cord this offseason, don't think he'd be dealt but do think we will be seeing the last of Yao in Rox communist red this season.
^The ancient Chinese, long before their communist red color, had a saying "Beware of what you wish for, you might just get it".
So is the thread title still relevant? STILL no timetable for Yao's return? And how about Aaron Brooks, for that matter?
Jonathan_Feigen Jonathan Feigen Yao Ming still waiting to be cleared, but thinks he's ready. 'I tell them every day.' Docs want him to strengthen ankle.
There seems to be something fishy brewing, indeed. Yao sounds more frustrated than I've ever seen him: http://on.nba.com/i0JlUM
