Trade Yao? That will not happen.

Yao will reach his potential in a few years, but it's already evident that he's better than most of the current Rocket players.

The Rockets staff are toeing the line. They don't want to hurt any of the other players feelings ...sigh...

It's a political situation right now with Moochie, KT, Mobley, and even Francis.

It's even a touchy situation with Francis. I mean, his buddy Mobley wont get as many touches if he passes to Yao instead of him.

Heh heh... that's going to make Mobley mad  (want a trade?). I mean, hell! Even KT is mad right now! He's got a chip on his sholder the size of Yao!

Heh heh... this is going to get good.

All this selfish playing has to end. There's no room for it anymore.

If Steve and Moochie are having difficulty in making the entry pass then they should pass the ball around to the other guys like Rice,Mo-T,and Nachbar who can then either pass the ball to Yao so he can try to score or everyone can then get the ball back from Yao to get an open shot.
During the game against the Lakers Mo-T got the ball to Yao and he got some easy buckets.I saw Nachbar in the preseason and he can make a decent entry pass,Rice can pass too at times. Without proper ball movement and defense we can't win but other players need to get good passes as well when they are open. This will also force other teams to pay attention to them and not only to Yao.

Ming is not saying that just being nice. It is his Chinese culture to be humble and conservative in a new environment. Yet, other players should not take that as Yao should take only 5 shots a game. Yao scored more 30-point than 10-point games in his short basketball career. It is really rare that he took less than 10 shots before landing NBA.

    :(

First, <B>thank you</B> Johnty for sharing the article that Robertson wrote. I agree with Robertson 100%. The Rockets need to get Yao the ball.

Let's talk about what the article is all about.

<U><B>So what is the article saying?</B></U>

Robertson is saying that the Rockets <B>best chance</B> of winning a championship is having the <B>offense run through</B> Yao Ming.

<U><B>So lets talk about winning championships</B></U>

First, Steve Francis. I'm going to lay this out on the table. Steve Francis can’t lead the Rocket team into the playoffs without Yao Ming, let alone a Championship. As a player Steve Francis is one of the best. However, we are not playing street ball. In fact as a <B>”point guard”</B> he is <B>average</B>. Lets assess Francis as a point guard.

<H14>* comparing against other elite point guard</H14>

    <B>Francis' positive attributes</B>
    1. (Above Average) Extremely athletic (fast, has jumps, did i mention fast). A 6 ft 3 guard attempting to be in dunk contest is crazy. Placing 3rd in the dunk contest is amazing.
    2. (Above Average) Can create his own shot as well as anyone in the league
    3. (Above Average) Ability to penetrate to the basket is impressive

    <B>Francis' negative attributes</B>
    1. (Below Average) His passing abilities stink
    2. (Very Poor) Limited ability to create for other players (poor floor vision)
    3. (Below Average) Lacks leadership abilities
    4. Selfish player? Debatable

<B>Conclusion:</B> Steve Francis needs to work on <B>passing</B>, <B>creating for other</B> players, and <B>leadership</B>. If he works on all three of these areas he will <B>no longer</B> be considered an <B>average point guard</B> or a selfish player. Someone had mentioned that Francis had looked for advice from people like Jordan. If anything Francis should seek advice from players like Jason Kidd and Steve Nash. He should try to emulate those players not Jordan. Jordan was never a point guard. Having said that, <B>Francis is no Jordan</B>.

To paraphrase one of the bbs poster. Our pick-and-roll is just a a road-block to allow our guard to move 3-4 feet laterally, either to the left or to the right.. never foward. Honestly, if they can't run it .. .DON'T. Also, I never felt Mobley to be one that would b**** and moan about his shot. He seems much more easy going then SF. It would be good if he played the way he played his rookie years, when his only assignment was to give ball to charle's/hakeem in post and wait for the 3 or drive. (with his improvement over the years, I'm sure he could do a bit more now.)

Every time Yao gets the ball, the guy is like triple teamed......Whadya want him to do???? The gaurds need to show that they can hit the outside shots when yao passes the ball out.......the other teams want the rest of the Rockets to beat them, not Yao.
