Maybe they understand that. But then they won't have anything to talk about in this long summer. So they just pretend they don't. It's a past-time thing.

Sorry for all Yao's fans but I just have to qrite this. But remember, I am not hating on Yao, it is just how I feel.

This is stupid. I understand it is so big for Yao to play in those Olimpics because they are in China. I would probably be for me big too if I was Yao but...

China doesn't have big chances of winning them, there are a lot of good teams like USA (they will win), Spain, Argentina, Greece...

And the decision made by Yao (that he will play in Olimpics) just doesn't make sense for me. He has been injured for a long time and not the first time in his carrer. He left something like 30 games last season and yet he is still not even 70...just sucks.

He risks his health by playing in those Olimpics especially when he still feels 'WEAK'. If he was 100%...

Right now I don't feel to confodent. His play in Olimpics may cost Rockets a lot in the regular season and yes, the Rockets with Artest and Barry and healthly Mac really have chances of getting it done. I am just concerned, I don't wanna last year's situation to happen again this year...

If I can say anything to Yao it is : Please don't play in Olimpics. I understand it hurts but you have too much to lose

Hate me all you want China, I hope the Chinese National Team gets bounced out of the Olympics right out of the gate. Yao deserves the rest.

I am not chinese or anything but this is stupid none of us here knows (at least to my knowledge) what a honor it is to represent your country at the olympics. Yao has a chance to do this which by itself is hard/rare to do on top of that the olympics are being held in his home country. Honestly I think this means much more to Yao than the Houston Rockets do, alot more. Thats not to say Yao doesnt love being a Rocket, but representing his country in the grandest of all stages is something else.

I think if Yao was given a choice of playing in olympics next week in China or playing the next season in the NBA --and he could only choose one of the two choices he would choose the olympics without a second thought.

Let the man play for his country. He DESERVES that honor.

for some reason I dont trust this article (coming from blinebury) more than likely Yao isnt in "basketball shape" and I am sure if there was anything serious with all eyes on Yao there would be a lot more made of it than a chron article by blinebury

I understand that but you know, season after this one we may not have Artest, we may not have Tracy...This is our biggest chance, we just gotta stay healthly.

For me the Rockets are the most important thing, maybe Yao's opinion is different.

I know he will play and I can't do anything about that. I can only hope he will somehow stay healthly.

Yao is doing an awful lot of talking lately. Maybe he should put a rest on his vocal cords. When asked how he is doing, say fine and leave it at that. I liked it when Yao didn't speak too much English.

Chances are Yao will suffer an injury during the season... Though I don't think it will be season ending. More like 7 - 18 games. As far as T-mac he's not getting any younger. What do you guys think, realistically please. Is Artest a prove 82 game/season player? If not how many?

Yao was referring to suffering of chinese ppl from the May earthquake first of all. I dont know why are you rubbing in the Sudan stuffs on a rocket fan forum? To show you watch the news or read the paper? And China's selling of arms to Sudan is nothing worse than US selling arms to Israel and starting a war with Iraq because you "think" there is weapons of mass destruction.

Yao should be fine as long as they limit his minutes and not play him 40+ and 40+ on back to back games. Adleman had him on the floor late in games a lot last year when the outcome was already decided, and that has to stop.

Hopefully, Artest will help make the lineup flexible enough that Yao won't have to go more than 32-35 minutes a game. With Ron on board, the lineup possibilities are endless.

Two wrongs don't make a right, just saying.

Anyways there are so much stacked against China this year in Olympic bball that it'll take nothing short of a minor miracle for them to advance to the medal rounds. Injury to one of our guards, Yao and Yi both coming off injury, placed in the strongest group doesn't help either. So I doubt that we may advance further enough to put Yao's health in jeopardy.

I think Yao knows that no matter how well he perform in any of the game games with the CNT China simply won't make a run in the world stage unless their guard play improve, so maybe he won't put himself to more of a risk of an injury this year.

The current talk reminded me of where Yao was coming back from injury a couple years ago in the playoffs. Yao was relatively ineffective vs. the Jazz, but he could not be anywhere near 100% back then, either. That Yao, like the one in the Olympics, was a step slower.
