It *is* stupid. And, I didn't call you stupid, I said the thought of trying to start Brad Lidge is stupid. And, it is. It's stupid. Sorry if that offends you. 1) He has two pitches. TWO. 2) Everytime he's thrown more than 100 innings he's gotten hurt. 3) He's 30. 4) It's a stupid thought. "Some arm trouble," indeed. Two surgeries, one career-threatening, before he ever even saw AAA. "Some arm trouble." Dude's not a starter. "Thinking outside the box" sounds awful nice, unless the "outside the box" thought is to attempt to breathe underwater. Then, it's stupid.
Then by all means, let's give him five or six innings a game rather than one. But evidently just fine for a starter. No, chances are he's much, much worse. But you don't have to do something stupid. Me, too, frankly. I was hoping a trade would go down this winter. If, by "value", you mean 15 or 20 starts where he goes 3 or 4 innings and gives up an average of 6 or 7 runs each time before ultimately landing on the DL with a bum elbow, then knock yourself out.
