    100% dead on

Knowledgeable sports fans are forgiving if they feel the team/management is going in the right direction.

His argument would be much more compelling if people booed Carr, first game rookie season.

His argument would be much more compelling if the Rockets don't lose to an expansion team, twice in a one week span.

His argument would be much more compelling if the Astros made 1 World Series appearance in 40 years.

At some point fans might actually expect some steak to the sizzle. However, since we are in the world of sports, fans who pay good money to watch events and support big dollar advertising, should listen to explanations of why something is not working than expect something to be done.

Excuse us Mr. Feigen if we expect results. He should quit sportswriting and go work for city government (or a communist country) where no one is accountable for any of their actions.

what, no mention of Big Macs in the article?

if i am not mistaken, maybe the fans were booing because
    a. carlos boozers shot put them over 80 points

    b. the rockets wouldnt score the final basket, which would have given them Big Macs.

so maybe Feigen DOESNT know what he is talking about after all...

Borrow ideas? we're talking about basketball. basketball man. Its a free discussion. anybody can join, anybody can talk about what we talk about. who cares. I mean hell I don't want to apply for a patent on my posts about basketball.

Personally, not to be rude or anything, but I read posts here and have never read where you came up with an idea worth a ****.

stealing idea's about basketball play? thats the funniest thing I ever heard. its so pathetic it provokes laughter.

How is that not being rude, again?

    Dude, whatever, we disagree.

I personally think taking somenoe elses writings about offense, or defense, or how the team can improve, etc, and then writing an article as if it was your own thought is unethical, and I am damned sure that most professional journalists would agree.

    Ever hear of plagerism?

As for your obvious dig at my posts, clearly you need to pay more attention.

i think people here care more about pro sports in general than they ever have in my lifetime. they're more passionate about them. that's a good thing. but it brings out the boos when the teams disappoint.

I have no problem with that at all, athletes are performers and if they are underperforming, they deserve to hear it from the people who are paying to see them.

    Ashlee Simpson anyone?

we talk about the day to day happenings of the Rockets. Its his job to talk about the current happenings of the Rockets. We just happen to talk about the same thing, first. We and He - meaning Feigan- are limited to what we - meaning both of us- can talk about given the present cirumstances of the team. If he is not allowed to write about the present circumstances of the team, because perceptive fellas over at clutchfans.net with extra time got to it before he could, then what is he suppose to write about?

    Ok. i'm done.

Same here. Great piece by Feigen. This piece made me look inwards and examine myself all over again.

Interesting article, but a bit melodramatic. First, the Texans deserved the boos. They thought the Browns were just going to lie down and hand them a .500 record and they got stomped. Picking on Carr in particular wasn't nice, but he's practically the team's mascot. David Carr IS the Texans.

Second, as was stated, the Boozer bucket was booed because it got them to 80, meaning no free burgers, just like dribbling the ball out was booed. But they were good-natured boos. Toyota Center was nearly as loud as I've ever heard it over tv that night, and we were only playing the crappy Jazz.

The Astros probably got a booed a few times last season, but during their run, most fans would have taken a bullet for them. Nothing new there: Fans like winners, hate losers.

If Feigen wants to hear some real, honest-to-God mean-spirited booing, he should go to NY or Philly.

Let's face it....lots of folks will act like a$$h*les when it comes to sports, or being in big crowds, or behind a keyboard, etc. Enough so that we can't fathom how anyone can see things any other way.

That's what Feign is talking about.

I was in the stadium booing Carr, and he deserved everything but the cheers for comng off the field and boos for returning. He played like he didn't even know there was going to be a game until an hour before kickoff. I counted 5 guys total that were playing with any kind of effort and intensity. The team as a whole disrespected every single person that bought a ticket for that game.

I've always said this and meant it: I don't get mad at our teams for getting beaten. But I can't stand it when there's a lackadaisical showing.

I won't be mad or upset or anything else if Beltran goes to NY. That's his desicion. If McLane decides he can't stick a knife in the team's future over a single player, fine. A-Rod proved to us that you can't do that. Maybe we end up mediocore next year while retooling. It happens. All I know is, managment is trying. Last year should shut anyone up about that.

As for the Rockets, I'm just taking the approach that this year we aren't playing for squat. No one should seriously think that we were looking to win anything immediately. We're going to need a couple years of firming up the cast around Yao and McGrady. Maybe we'll be pleasantely surprised with some May games on the schedule, but I'm not expecting them in 2005. I'm expecting late May games from 2007 on.

A couple of you are mistaken.

The points that put Utah at 80 were scored by Humphries IIRC.

The play Feigen was talking about occured midway through the 3rd after Yao's 2nd 3 pt play.

So the fans booing at that time that he refered to had nothing to do with Big Macs.

LOL -- Thanks DD, I needed that. I mean, anyone could write a newspaper article off your threads -- all of your arguments present logic points. You never just say a few sentences with no backing ;)

Ill give you the benefit of the doubt.

I've just never seen a Feigen article that said:

The Rockets do not play like a team.

Francis is the worst passing PG in the NBA.

Jeff Van Gundy should be fired.
