for those who use Wesley's age as an argument against resigning him, maybe you should check the age of some bench players who were/are playing an important roles for the Spurs/Pistons.

with young, unexperienced bench we won't win anything...

He did ok, but that last year was last year. And if Wesleys our best perimeter defender next year we are already screwed! :(

Nice guy, seems like a fine person, time to move on. Wesley hasn't been consistent for the last two or three years. He is too small, too slow, and has become a very streaky shooter. Alston might be a decent back up PG, although, I wouldn't miss him either. The "good ole guy" era has to end, the Rockets need to get some players in here.

Wesley isn't a pg. Due to injuries he had been playing out of position. When he was able to get back to his position he has done well.

Wesley also started off the season not fully recovered from an injury. Again, once that was taken care of, and he was at his natural position he was the best shooter on the tea. He brought up a low 3P percentage to one of the best in the league. He is playing through injuries again.

Next season with a full roster Wesley can play his position, with more limited minutes that will prevent and allow him to recover from injuries. He is a good influence on the young guys, far from a cancer, and doesn't make so many mistakes that getting rid of him is addition by subtraction.

It is simple. If we have enough good guys at his position we don't need him. Currently that isn't the case. Getting rid of him now, when he can be had for a decent price is jumping the gun.

Problem is, there is no one to move on to.

No one in free agency for the MLE that will be a reliable starter.

No one in the draft with our pick that will be a reliable starter.

Unless there is some kickass trade in the works, the rockets need to re-sign Wesley if they don't want an even bigger hole at sg.

We are screwed if your right. Like someone said in an earlier post, he could back up say, a Mike Miller for example, but if Gundy's coach (and he will be) then Wesley will likely start. Ugh

You guys wanting to keep this fella on arent thinking past ghe 2nd round. Wesley is expendable. He's not a main cog in any championship team.

Say we dont have this and that all you want to, but we definitely dont need to settle.

Yao with a real bloody sock for this first 22 games of the year...not the fake kind that Schilling donned.
Did TMac play an any of his 47 games this year pain free?

I agree. We get Kobe, Ray Allen, Jason Richardson, or bust.

Or, in protest, they can trot 4 guys out there until the rockets can get the "backcourt of 6'3" and under" rule ammended to the cba.

I don't think that's the case. If there was a wing player to displace Wesley, he would be playing a lot of minutes, starter or no. Problem is they have nada, and will be lucky to get one in the offseason.

The real sad thing is that the rockets have no one even close to being good enough trade bait to get Mike Miller, a backup on a first round fodder playoff team.

Mike Miller is impossible. We'd have to bribe an East team to trade for him and pass him along to us. Which means we would have to overpay for him severely.
