MLE is no chump change that is like 4-5 million a year a three or four year deal is 15-20 million. If he likes it here, I think there is a good chance he will take the deal.

no way for a long term contracts. Wells is too risky. He should be given an one-year incentive deal like Bulls did to Rodman.

It's not the case of last year for Wells. He's a great roll player but EQ challenged.

What he is saying is Wells could very well be overpaid this offseason and he doesn't want it to be us that overpay him. Personally I love how he's been playing but I would be hesitant to give Bonzi a MLE.

One reason he came here was no one else offered him a better deal than the deal he turned down in Sacramento. If he continues to play the way we hope he plays...... I would have no issue with signing him with the MLE, and if he likes it here playing for Adelman then i think he might stay, unless some team offers him substantially more. I really like his ability to play well with Yao and Tmac, he is a great interior passer and post player and causes mismatches (especially for SA). Again, this is all if he plays this well the rest of the season.

If he continues to be healthy and productive, a mid-level exception would be appropriate in my opinion. Especially if he has a prefernece for playing for Adelman, the only coach he has yet to clash with.

no winning and being involved helps chemistry. last year we were winning, we had a decent record and he wasn't involved so his chemistry sucked for the team.

now he is involved with the team and thus being the reason why we are 6-1, and im predicting it a memphis and lakers win

Yeah I say let him go. If he can get more money in the free agent market then he deserves it. If the Rockets and Bonzi are mutually better because of that contract he signed before last year, then it will have been a good deal, but we should leave it at that. Bonzi needs to feed Bonzi's family, and the Rox are better off not to be the ones to see what kind of shape he will keep himself in after he's guaranteed for five years or something.

Yeah I like Bonzi but he obviously wants more money. Expecting him to bring this years production for 4~5 years for the MLE is just being greedy from the Rockets standpoint. You're expecting WAYYY too much for giving so little..

As indicated in another thread, this is actually Bonzi's SECOND straight contract year. He could have opted out after least season but chose to exercise his 2nd year option with the Rockets again, because of Adelman. Technically He COULD have put in this same effort last year, then looked for the money his past offseason. Understandably, he was probably too mind-screwed to play well after realizing what he passed up.

Its not like he's getting any younger...signing a 29 year old to a multi-year deal sounds like a better bet to a front office than a 31-32 year old guy to the same deal. 2 years of not making the big money in the NBA is a BIG deal, and still cant believe he (or his agent) passed up that Sacramento contract. Ironically it could still serve the Rockets interest the best. Considering that John Salmons, the guy the Kings immediately snatched up after Bonzi declined, is currently averaging 20 points a game and signed at 5 years 25 milllion, not sure Bonzi can get better than that so mid-level sounds about right...
