But it will be pretty stupid for bonzi NOT to work hard again this season with the rockets. A good example is to learn from Spree. Spree turned down a huge contract and refused to play. Now nobody even wants to invite him to training camp because GMs know that they will get rejected without a 5-6 mil offer.

I kind of feel sorry for Bonzi for the same situation. If he still refuses to perform what he did in Sacremento then after he plays with the Rox then he will only probably get a Vet's minimum. If he plays. He would probably end up in the high 4s per year and probably a 2-3 year contract. For most players thats not bad at all.

p.s i really feel sorry for Spree. When ever he gets interviewed he just shuts his door. I think that he is really really embarassed after the " not enough money to feed the family and kids" thing. Very self-centered person. I'd wish he had seen a consultant for that.

anyways just hope that Bonzi turned out to be an average bonzi. Not hoping anything fancy

Agree completely....are you nuts. Wells is the kind of player that can keep us winning games should T-Mac get hurt and miss 5-6 games....ie it won't result in 6 game losing streak.

    We need Bonzi!

We can never have too much talent or depth.

I don't know if he fits yet, but we shouldn't turn on him like jilted girlfriends.

Watching the beginning of the Rockets/Bucks game again... Jeff Van Gundy was interviewed and said Bonzi wasn't closed to being back on the court-- had to get in shape and practice first. Then reporter said she just talked to
Bonzi a few minutes ago and Bonzi said he'd play on Sunday.

Interesting contradictory stories coming from JVG and Bonzi.

Then the next day, Bonzi is excused for "personal reasons" with no timetable for returning.

Personally, I wonder if Bonzi's "personal reasons" has to do with the mass he's carrying on his person. I wonder if he's down at some fat farm getting in shape before rejoining the Rockets. Not that it would be a bad thing. If he plays too early, he's only hurting team as well as giving himself a bigger chance of injury.

If you read some of the threads/posts that happened after Wells was signed, people were comparing him to the Pope and overlooking his troubled history, especially when comparing him to "satan" aka mike james.

It doesn't surprise me a bit that Bonzi is a sideshow already and that people are acting shocked about it.

What's surprising is what is wells thinking? I mean, this is just going to reinforce his image as a trouble maker.

i totally agree, i think bonzi knows that he has to have a good season, and by good, character issues included, in order for him to get paid next year. In the nba - money sure does talk!!!

Bonzi will not be ready for the start of the regular season it appears, but when he does show-up he will be ready.

Bonzi isn't going to leave the NBA....and the has a lot to prove with the Rockets. He's be a factor come December.

Agreed, but don't you think he's blown his chance at the full MLE next summer? IMO, a team would be crazy to guarantee Bonzi more than 3yrs/$15MM.

Honestly, we do not need Sura any more. Please push Span to improve like Rockets did on Yao.

I noticed this too. Hopefully it's right, as I would expect Luther to probably return as well, and then we'd FINALLY see a full squad.

Worrell seems to be assuming that Bonzi will play as soon as he gets back. But Van Gundy has said that he's not going to play Bonzi in games until he gets significant practice time, which hasn't happened yet. I doubt we see him until the regular season.

i think jvg just wants to sound tough or in control.. or he treats all players equally..

truth is if bonzis ready and in condition to play he should let him play.. thats the least jvg can do for bonzi for playing for houston even if he gotten more money somewhere else..

jvg needs bonzi more than bonzi needs the rockets..

I agree. I hope JVG doesn't alienate Bonzi. He helped us out a lot by choosing us over places like denver. The minutes should be his to lose, not his to earn to start out.

I guarantee you that's not JVG's attitude, and it shouldn't be. Nobody outside of Yao, Tracy, and maybe Battier have a sure spot in the starting lineup. He needs to come in and earn his spot and prove himself and that he deserves a raise next summer.

That being said, as long as he isn't disrupting chemistry and behaving off the court, Bonzi is talented enough that he will get plenty of PT.

worrell sounded like he knew bonzi was coming back tomorrow but was guessing he'd play wednesday.

if he is indeed practicing the next two days then i think it's likely, no matter what jeff has said in the past, that he gets atleast some game action.

and bonzi may need the rockets even more than we need him. he still wants to get paid and in order for that to happen he has to play and be productive.
