this brought back flashes of Eddie Griffin and how he never played in this team again.

Maybe Bonzi has problems in his immediate family that need looking after.

Worst case scenario, if he isn't "ready", he'll be trade bait in a month and a half (or in 2.5 months?) and might help us net a player we need for the long term.

Novak has given me enough hope with his play that without Bonzi our lineup looks like:

    1. Rafer, KillBill, JLIII
    2. Snyder, Head, (Jacobsen or Sura?)
    3. TMac, Novak, Rybo
    4. Battier, Juwan, Hayes
    5. Yao, Deke

Which is fairly versatile, given how TMac can play the 2 or nominal PG, how Battier can play either forward spot, Snyder at 2 or 3, etc.

Wells has an attitude problem well before he joined Rox. I am surprised that not many fans are preparing for that.

You can say he is in a contract year and he should know to hehave and play hard to earn his big money next year. Then again, he is not smart enough to understand that. After all, this is the guy who turned down a 5 years 36M contract at age of 30 in the first place.

honestly i think you guys are reading too much into this. Bonzi may have issues off the court to deal with first before basketball. They are people first and then ball players. And the secracy (sp?) is warranted. Its the man personal life and its is no one business except his own. No one should have their private life aired out unless they offer the info themselves. I guess luther was ok in revealing his family issue but other players (like tmac last year) arent always willing to let everyone know whats going on in their homes and is their damn right to do so

given bonzi history its easy to speculate that it may not be anything serious and he could be just giving himself an extra vacation who knows? it could be he is going to spend the next two weeks training super hard to get back into shape...he did not show up in shape to camp and could not work out because of his injury. maybe jvg asked him to do that who knows? just wait and hope for the best.

we do not necessarily need bonzi during the regular season yes, but you guys are fooling yourselves if you think we can compete with the mavs, spurs, suns without a player like bonzi either starting or coming off the bench in the playoffs.

i am not going to judge yet till more info is available, i could be eating crow later but i dont think its something that is "cancerous" to the team

Sura is finished!! He will retire to suite the politics of management. The management have reasons why they are holding up this decission.

It's a fact of life, tabloids, papparazzi, celebrity TV shows all attempt to get a glimpse of public figures private and personal lives. Sport celebs by virtue of their megabucks salaries and media exposure make disclosure an absolute right. I am not losing any sleep over Bonzi but if we have a right to know Bonzi was excused from the team, we have a right to know why.

I think you are losing sleep over this.

And I don't care how much money Bonzi makes or how much camera time he gets, we don't have a RIGHT to know.

Whatever Bonzi wishes to deal with in private, we're gonna respect that.

That's just how it's going to be, ok?

That part of the brain that wants to know what Bonzi is dealing with, shut it off right now. Put it to sleep. Ya follow me? Capish?

as fans we dont have a "right" to know anything when it comes to players personal lives.

i cant believe how many people here are jumping to conclusions with this. all your speculation is just that - speculation.

Tom Smykowski: It was a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. You see, it would be this mat that you would put on the floor... and would have different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.
Michael Bolton: That's the worst idea I've ever heard in my life, Tom.
Samir: Yes, this is horrible, this idea.

Personal reasons or not - it's not a good sign when a player hasn't practiced a minute with the team and he's already on an excused leave of absence. it does not bode well.

Well spoken, I agree 100 % with your thoughts.

Allow me to submit this to you all.

I think there is nothing more to this than what Van Gundy said. We are still used to the Rudy era were we were told nothing.

This JVG, he just spews it out of his mouth if there is trouble.

He would have said, "Yeah, he came here out of shape, and not really willing to adjust. So we are going to see what happens.

That wasnt the case, so I think it is cut and dry. He will be here when he gets here.

The Man coul be having trouble with one of kids, his marriage or even his finances. All these things take a front seat to Basketball.

Capish my a**. That's the point that all this speculation could be avoided if there was an explanation offered, whatever it is. Stonewalling it only increases the speculation.

you speak as if we are owed an explanation, which we are not. we didnt elect these guys to public office - they are ball players. just chill out - i doubt it is as bad as everyone seems to want it to be.

No big deal. Veterans don't really need preseason. He can miss it all for I care, doesn't make a difference.

Here is my problem with wells.
An athletes asset is his body and his game. to me all the root canal problems are bad signs. if he cared about winning he wuld have taken care of this stuff in the off season, not after he joins the team and start of the training camp. it would have been different if he actually needed the employment to cover his dental bills, but come on he is a millionaire. he could afford the dental bill. NBA players are not Wall Mart employees, or the rest of us. they do not need to put off medical/dental care until they are employed.
any NBA player who wants to play takes care of this stuff (teeth) before the camp.
as far as the personal stuff. if its legit, its not my or anyones elses buisness.

With regards to the root canal problem, I've had one before and it came on very suddenly, so he might not have had the problem during the off season. I got pain in my tooth all of a sudden one day and then needed a root canal. No previous warning signs. It just came out of the blue.

We don't need him to get to the play-offs, but we will need him in the play-offs.

Wasn't just a couple of weeks ago that Bonzi joked, "I'm not crazy, I was just in Portland"?

Hey, Bonzi -- You're not in Portland anymore.

Wells or anyone in the NBA don't owe us diddle. Play the game hard, play to win, appreciate the fans a little bit; And satisfy management and the people he works with, thats about it. Wells is doing a disservice to us as people, by doing what? Regardless if the reason for his action is given or not he's missing time and that has its aggraviting effect enough. Everything else is just to feed the tabloid curious minds of those who follow.

You tell your boss your relative is gonna have his/her house taken away or something potentially embarrassing to the PERSON you're aiding, and you'll need time away to deal with it, in private of course. You come back after an indefinite period and a coworker tells you "That's unfortunate it had to happen. But you know, I and the staff take it as offense you didn't outright tell any of your incident and let us all in on it. You took time away, and WE needed to know why..."

Personal matters can be kept private, even for a knucklehead who works in the limelight
