What's there to accept? Bonzi basically lost his place in the rotation due to the "out of shape" factor early in the season and the multiple injuries during the season that sidelined him. I could give a crap whether he "accepts" his reduced role. If he would have been in sooner and not been injured as often, we would have seen more results and he would have been more integral. He helped us some but, overall, he has been a major disappointment this season and is not helping us achieve our goal of going after a championship. I think we might have been better off never having signed him and having someone else pick up the slack.

I don't think Wells will play along with our duo, especially with Yao. He just make the paint too clowdy. But he will play well with Deke and Howard.

That is it - anything else is uncivilized.

I do not like how this has turned out but it is time to move on - cut the guy already let him move on as well with his life [and to another team in time for the playoffs run]. This is getting ridiculous.

Wells was a low risk gamble who we never targeted early in FA and who never targeted us, only for both us and Wells to get into a predicament/forced marriage late in FA (Bonzi and his agent droppped the ball, and we were totally caught off guard losing out on James and were scrambling after only signing signing VS, JL3 and Novak with up to that point).

Anderson was a scrub coming off a bad year and a series of injuries and was cut by his previous team. He wasn't a top free agent or highly recruited by any stretch of the imagination. Further, we ended up trading him because of his request, and to the future champions.

Now Swift we recruited hard from day 1 of the offseason 2 years ago like we did so with Mike James this offseason.

The only one with much of a case to be sour could be Swift.

There is no reason to cut him. He still has more of a chance to play than VS or Novak. If Tmac or KS went down, he would be there to potentially call up and help. Maybe the chance is small, but not insignificant.

Also, he has a player option next year. He is free to decline it and resign somewhere else. If not (he wants the salary) we can trade him, there might be someone willing to go with a 2.3 mill 1 year gamble next year (still very cheap and short term for someone with the ability of Wells), and want him in a small trade.

Finally, if we cut him now by rule he can't be on the playoff roster for anyone else. Any chance for him to play this year in the playoffs is hanging on here.

I like having Wells to fall back on, especially if T-Mac is out or Battier isn't playing well. Our chemistry is good right now, so there is no need for him to get many minutes, but I would like to have him available for garbage time instead of say....Steve Novak or Span-turnver-oullis. Wells could prove to be valuable come playoff time and he needs to be ready to fit in.

I trust JVG's decisions though, so....

I dont remember one person on this board the day that Anderson was signed saying he was a quote "scrub". In fact if my memory serves me right there were several threads started saying that CD should have been given GM of the year......because with minimal money he was able to go out and get Swift, and T-mac made some calls and convinced Derek to sign for less money with us.

Our memories are short at best. :D Mine included. I hardly remember being excited that signed any of those people either.

    1. Bonzi Wells said, when he first signed, that he was not promised playing time. He, in fact, said taht he decided to sign with the Rockets because JVG was straight up with him about expectations and did not try to sugarcoat anything.

    2. Bonzi and Anderson did not earn any more minutes than they got.

    3. So you would rather the Rockets lose games just so they can give mediocre free agents their playing time so that more mediocre free agents will consider Houston a prime desitination?

There is no understanding of playing time guarantees.

If there is any understanding with any player, there is an understanding between TMac and the Rockets that the team will do what it takes to win.

JVG a 9 man rotation is not rocket science -- make it happen -- Bonzi is a key player in getting us past the first round.

I hate to burst your bubble; but I will. Bonzi should have been the 3rd option on this team. JVG and him had some bad blood. If you believe his not playing had anything to do with not being in shape you are more naive than I thought.

I like Jeff. He is a sadist and he is not a ashmaed of it. I think you should be who you are without apology.

With that in mind. I will not the JVG kool-aid and believe every word that comes from his mouth.

Well, I could have told you (and did) that he was a scrub before he signed. Not my fault the fans thought were we getting the SA/health knees verson.

Remember DA was cut from Portland. Yes a few teams were interested, but none that I am aware offered more than the vet min or LLE. Besides, we treated him well, we traded him on his request from an injury riddled crappy team to the NBA champions.

The FA we kinda sorta screwed after rolling out the red carpet was Stromile. That could have hurt us (might be one reason why James wanted the trade kicker). But not that Swift has the best rep around the league either.

Everybody knows Bonzi is a putz. A talented one, yes, but still a putz.

I think we probably lost the FA luster that got us players to initially sign below contract because he had such a players place (Rudy T era) and where players knew they would be rewarded with rich contracts and accomodated--but we have hardly become an undesirable place either. We will be in the running for quality FA PGs or PFs I believe.

Nah, we can get by Utah w/O him. But I am concerned w/o him we just don't have enough horses for Dal and Phx.

I have no idea if you are right about JVG motives, but I agree I would still like to see Bonzi get PT.

JVG can be validated by getting his team to the WCF or invalidated by being bounced in the 1st round. I suspect the result will be between and I'll still have much hunch we needed Bonzi's talent in the fold to be a championship contender.

But who knows for sure, I hope JVG is right (we have enough horses to win versus the elite w/o Bonzi) and my hunch proves wrong.
