This crap about so-so never got a chance is perhaps the worst fad going on right now. Easy to say, never gets backed up, usually just plain false.

I like Kill Bill and believe he has the same skill set and attitude to be a facsimile of John Starks for us. I've loved Bonzi's game since he was a rookie in Portland. But the cold hard truth is, neither of these guys have shown anything on the court (this year) to justify increased PT and both have had ample chances to do so.

Despite his pathetically lax attempts to get into playing shape, JVG wheeled Wells out for 20-30 mins a night in an 8-game stretch in December (12/14-12/27; 25 mpg) until Bonzi complained of back problems. In that showcase, he hit at or above 50% 3 times (27-65), got into double digits 3 times with a high of 15 (8 shots/game), 22 total TO against 9 assists, etc, etc. He was a mess but he was getting a legit shot. He wasn't playing garbage time.

He got a second stretch of chances (6 games, 20 mpg) in late January. Mostly the same result.

JVG can't screw the rest of the team trying to integrate a guy that's giving less than an honest effort to get on the floor. Yao killed himself rehabing and getting back. Bonzi isn't fighting to get on the court, he's fighting the fact that he has to earn it.

Reduction of role! The guy is barely on the team, actually the only way he could be less on the team is if he played for another team. Wells has confirmed what has always been said about him, he is not a team player. A total waste of a roster spot, if he is actually taking up one. This is a huge disappointment. Wells could have been a huge asset this season and in the playoffs.

It seems obvious to me that JVG's viewpoint is that this experiment has failed too many times/suffered way too many setbacks, and at this point in the season it's too late to continue with it. This playoff push is vital. We're going nowhere if by the end of the season we aren't clicking and firing on all cylinders. With the reintegration of Yao still in progress (and 15 games to go or so), it's just too risky to resume the Bonzi game at this point.

We need a balanced, fixed, tried and tested rotation by playoff time. These guys need to play together in a predefined format for the next few weeks, get familiar with each other, develop strong on-court chemistry. It's unfortunate, and we all wish it could've turned out better...but the door is closed on Bonzi now.

I believe it was never about Wells' conditioning or injuries.

I believe Wells is a knucklehead and hasn't gotten along with JVG from the beginning, and that they have kept their disagreement out of the media (mostly) with a slew of excuses.

I feel sorry for bonzi. This year was a complete waste for him and he chose the rockets after being recruited by them. He must have not envisioned how much of a snake and tyrant the coach really was. :(

Guys Let JVG do his Job, we are winning. Who cares if Bonzi is playing the most important thing is to win and if JVG thinks we are better without him than let it be. JVG likes defense and I don't think Bonzi can bring that onto the court. Snyder can play defense, rebound and attacks the basket better than anyone on the team (Yes better than T-mac).

Why? Apparently, he is a lazy, selfish, candy-ass, most likely posting on this forum as Luffy1 rather than trying to work his fat ass into shape. V-mac you can at least consider to be part of the Rocket's future.

Bonzi smells like herbs. Trust me, I live in the same condo as he does, and have had many close encounters (sorry guys, no pictures). I used to be a pothead, so I know what herbs smell like. Dude is a toker. LAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having Bonzi on the bench, when he's barely going to get playing time, could be a distraction. And it would be humiliating for him.

From the start of the season, everyone anticipated this kind of action coming from Bonzi and he never really fit in his role as the 6 man rotation, so therefore JVG just want to put a good words for all of us to read regardless his pointless contribution to the team.

I'll say,"Get his fat ass out of HTown!"

    Derek Anderson, Bonzi Wells......

Good luck trying to sign anybody worthwhile to the LLE this offseason.

Wells' best role on the team would be backing up Tmac (snyder/luther) in the last few minutes of the 1st and 3rd quaters and beginning of 2md; or backing up Battier, but JVG loves Battier and likes to move tmac down to the 3 at times with snyder/luther and skip on the floor.

I would like to see Bonzi play in this set:
    1-Skip
    2-Tmac
    3-Bonzi
    4-Jhow
    5-YAO

just Bonzi and Tmac on the wings.

LMAO. players go where the money is. if you think there will be some kind of negative impact on our future free agent signings then you'd be absolutely wrong.

Guys, this has nothing to do with Bonzi's attitude... so just drop that.

It's just JVGs game-plan. I don't necessarily agree with it in this case, but its working, so I won't argue. If you listen to what JVG has had to say, two things are repeatedly mention that tell the whole story. First, is that he doesn't want to play Kirk Snyder and Bonzi Wells at the same time in the rotation -- he feels it makes the rotation too muddled. Second, and more importantly, is that JVG plays an 8 1/2 man rotation, with Kirk Snyder being the 1/2. He's mentioned before how both players bring something to them -- with Bonzi bringing a mean streak and cutting/slashing ability, and Kirk bringing an athleticism and speed -- and at this time, he views Kirk's contributions as more beneficial, so he gets the half role. The other eight men in our rotation aren't rotational/replaceable, and with chemistry always being an important concern, we can't switch Bonzi/Kirk night-in and night-out.
