Greg Anthony: "Dream looks like he's in camp...he looks good!" Matt Weiner: "He can probably still outplay most guys."
Man, that video put a HUGE smile on my face. One I haven't had since I woke up on Christmas morning when I was 5 years old.
The part I happened to like that has not been given good coverage here yet is the part where Hakeem was telling him to extend his hand instead of clutching it when finishing. The clutching factor is the reason why smaller centers and PFs block his short one on one. Locking his elbow at that angle makes him look like a 6-6 guy when finishing instead of his true 7-6. I hope he learns this more than anything else Hakeem taught him. I wonder why no one else corrected this. It seemed so obvious and Yao being a great student, I would imagine that he did not get good corrections on this. Check out the 1.15 - 1.35 seconds mark of the video Tinman posted on page 1. You can hear Hakeem saying "Lean" [and showing him how to keep his elbow stretched]. P.S. I do not necessarily think that the moves Hakeem were showing Yao were that much based on athleticism. I believe Hakeem was just doing a classical "Technique Training". How a player chooses to deploy those techniques is up to him/her. Yao is athletic enough to utilize those moves with considerable amount of success.
this is for you people who are too lazy to wait a few seconds or scroll down on page 1. <embed src='http://admin.brightcove.com/destination/player/player.swf' bgcolor='#FFFFFF' flashVars='allowFullScreen=true&initVideoId=909894375&servicesURL=http://www.brightcove.com&viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://www.brightcove.com&cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&autoStart=false' base='http://admin.brightcove.com' name='bcPlayer' width='486' height='412' allowFullScreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always' seamlesstabbing='false' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' swLiveConnect='true' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash'></embed>
Ok.... I just cried after viewing that video *puts away the kleenex*..... All the memories of Hakeem was surging back into my memory... 1. I vote that video as #1 for the year on this forum 2. Hakeem looks so smooth and quick compared to Yao 3. If we can sign Deke why can't we sign Hakeem? Your telling me Deke is faster than Hakeem? 4. I miss that Man so much in a non Gay way!!
Hakeem is unreal!!! Seriously, the dude is in good enough shape to play...I'd take him in a heartbeat over the bigs we have on our team outside of Yao. I need to go grab some tissues and watch that video again...and again. Thats just beautiful.
Great video! Come on guys, Hakeem looked fit in the video, but I don't think he can run up-and-down the court. Even if he could, why would a legend like him want to come back to be a bench warmer? My observations: Yao needs to work on his footwork. It's bad. The things he learned from the dream will really help him. I just hope he'll be the first option next year because the Rockets won't go anywhere with Tmac as the 1st option. Next session will hopefully on defense. They should watch game films together.
can i give u six stars? This is definitely the best video i've seen this year. Hope we'll see Yao playing at a even higher level next year.
Dream's still got the beautiful footwork. He could come in off the bench and drop an easy 10 pts before tiring out and going back to the bench.
Hakeem still has it. He looks great, and really understands the center position. Of course Hakeem couldn't play a season with the Rockets, he looks good and quick because he has been working out, keeping up with the game, and staying in good shape, but not playing against the physical competition for a whole season in the NBA. His knees are rested. Everything is rested. That would go away by the time pre-season ended.
Ahem. there is an official name for that move, its called the "Dream Shake". how quickly 'fans' forget. That video makes me feel like we just won game 7 of the finals instead of losing game 7 in the first round. Dream is 'n' was surreal... but i guess thats just what dreams are.
Man, Dream was so smooth and quick. Yao almost looked like he had no control of his legs, like he just ran a marathon.
