    I could not agree more.

I LOVE JVG's approach. It is SO telling that Francis, Mobley and TAYLOR did not come in early. I say if Taylor is overweight again, ship him out as fast as possible.

If they do not realize that they are ALL on probation, they are simply DUMB.

In case I have not said it - I LOVE how JVG puts them under pressure.

And another thing, I am glad to see that Moochie and Cato seem to be getting the message! Give them a fair chance!

Man, I've had my fill of this crap. So Steve, Cat, and Taylor aren't committed to the team? I'm pretty sure when veteran camp opens on Thursday, only one player will be missing.

Nobody ever seem to mention the guy who is least committed to this team, Yao Ming.

Come on, let's hear the excuses.

Ummm..., Yao Ming is playing in Asian Championships/Olympic qualifiers and representing his country. What are the veterans doing? :p

Why should I care? Why should JVG care? He's not in camp. It just proves his lack of commitment to the Rockets.

    NO EXCUSES.

i understand that you do not like it that people say francis and Mobley and taylor aren't committed. but now saying that Yao isn't committed is doing the exact thing (that the other people do to Francis) to Yao. i think they are al committted, atleast we will see in the games. but i do like the fact that Van gundy shows that he doesn't care for names, and only care for heart and hard work.

You misunderstand me. The thing that really irritates me is not that they question the commitment of those players, but that they do it while giving Yao a free pass. To me, that's unfair.

I hope it is clear to everyone now why we had to make a change at the coaching spot. The results will tell, but we definitely had to make a change.

Did people read what JVG said?

He talked about how the other guys are working on their fitness. He talked about how he would have preferred them to come to camp early, but it was when they weren't doing either thing that there was a problem.

He's saying that they're working, and he knows that, but that he wants more.

He's going into it with Rudy's warriors. (Minus two starters plus Jimmy Jax, a 6-7th man, and Pike/AG two 7-8th men.) His men will be prepared and marched off to war. Are they be equipped with the goods to allow judgment of the general to be positive?

BTW - JVG seems to be questioning their underachiever label. Hmmm.

i understand, but i think all those players have their own way of getting ready for the season. some players need that time for their own, and for their nonbasketbal life. i think if yao wants to play the asian games he should play it (if he is ready for the next year, and he wil be) and if francis and mobley do not work out with the team the first few days, i do not care. theydo have to be ready for the next year. and i think they will be. and like i already said i like it that van gundy shows he want his players to work hard.

When the other rox players are spending much of their summer for their countrie's qualifying games while still sticking to their offseason workout programs, then they can get a "free pass".

Yao has no choice - he and the Rockets and China had an agreement before he signed with the Rockets that he would always have to go home and play for his country. I repeat - Yao has no choice.

Francis, Cat and MoT had a choice and choice not to. That speaks volumes to me and I'm sure it does as well to JVG.

Here's another quote from Van Gundy:

Players emerged from their first training camp practice under new Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy speaking of the priority he places on defense, conditioning and focus. Van Gundy seemed amused that such basics would be worth mention.

"I really don't think it's unreasonable to ask a pro athlete to be in shape and concentrate," Van Gundy said. "I would hope you want to play defense because you want to win a championship. I'm like the ogre. Expect them to play defense and come in in shape and concentrate? Heaven forbid."

haha , i didn't think he was trying to be funny..but it sounded funny. an OGRE...ha! what a classic, more like a GOLEM to me.

ATrain, I had an elipsis once but it ran away!

Remember JVG was my first choice for Rocket's coach, upfront. This is going to be a very interesting season. I am still holding to my prediction that Francis and JVG will be in a major confrontation before All Star break. However, if the Rockets establish a torrid win streak, Francis might buy in. If JVG watched every tape from last year, he KNOWS what it is going to take to take this group to the next level. Major fun.

"to take to take" ???? It's early, the brain is not fully functioning which, in my case, is absolutely necessary!
