The view's much better on the bench than in the press box. Not to mention broadcasters don't have a chance at a championship ring. Where would you rather be -- between Rudy T & Steve Francis on the bench, or a couple of has-been NBA professionals who actually went to their classes in the 2 years they spent in college, so they can string together a sentence capable of being understood by the television viewing audience?

I happen to agree with Gater, however.

And whenever I hear JVG calling a Rockets game, I always think, Damn. This guy might give the team the slapping-around it needs. Hey,Jeff: want a new job? Think you could handle the Houston humidity? His comments about what the team needs and what it's doing wrong (and he's not being critical; he also has praise) seem fairly spot-on.

No matter how much we debate this issue, it all boils down to making the Playoffs. If this team makes the playoffs, there is a 98.7% chance that he will return next year. But if they fail to make the playoffs, Rudy's chance of returing for another season will drastically fall to a 47.5% probability.

    Yes........it is that simple.

No way. The only way Rudy goes this season is if the Rockets go on a HUGE losing streak. Next season will be the make or break year for Rudy. They aren't going to go into the new arena with a brand new coach.

Van Gundy wasn't just playing the media. It was CLEAR that he was ADAMANT about it. He wasn't just going through the motions.

I have a lot of respect for Van Gundy as a coach. In fact, the only ones who immediately leap to mind that I have more respect for are Alex Hannum and Red Auerbach.

I never really wanted Rudy gone. I did doubt him for awhile with how little he was getting Yao the ball, but Van Gundy saying that he's a great coach is enough for me. If Jeff says he's cool, then he's cool with me.

There was an article posted on the board a while ago. It says there is an undercurrent of disrepect to Rudy's coaching among some coaches and assistants in the league. Of course, they are all anonymous. Take it for what it's worth.

I agree with you. The individual talent and fresh legs is one of the main reasons why the Rockets got off to a good start. As the season progress they started to fade and the fresh legs are not their anymore. This is the reason why they are struggling. You can't win on talent alone. Coaching has the be in the mix and the Rockets are not getting it. You can hide behind the talent for so long but eventually it will all come out into the opeining.

SOMEONE (Gundy) sees the light but SOMEONE ELSE (you) doesn't. Why get rid of Posey? He's the best defender on our team. Takes about 2 charges a game.

I guess you've only watched a couple of games.

He doesn't take two charges game, he's done that about four or five times he's been here. He also gets lit up on a consistent basis by the likes of Jordan, Harpring and Spreewell. Even if he did get two charges, he also misses dunks and shoots airballs which definitely negates any positives he has on the defensive side.

I would also say Hawk is our best defender and the Cat is also better on D.

Hawkin's plays good D. WHat the hell kind of D does Cat play? And no, I've watched all but 2 or 3 games this season because of visiting my girlfriend there in Houston. As far as Posey goes for missing his dunks and layups... he's not that good of an offensive player.

Posey............well he's fast as hell and quick. And can dunk. But other than that.....he can't shoot. :( His defense is all right. I would rather have Christie or Artest. :)
HAWKINS IS OUR BEST DEFENDER. MOBLEY IS TOO.
Don't y'all know how many people Mobley has shut down this year? They only score like in the 4th quarter while we are winning by 20. Only Kobe went crazy......just cuz he was going crazy on everyone. But Mobley has done a nice job.
Hawkins should get more playing time.

OH YEAH! About Jeff Van Gundy. I think he is right. And all the people in the media have said the same exact thing. I guess we shouldn't fire Rudy. But why would Jeff Van Gundy want to be an assistant coach for us? WELL MAYBE he thinks we have potential and we can win a championship. Of course he would want one...... But really. As a commentator guy....he just says "That was a bad call." But I agree with him.

About Rudy. Why doesn't Rudy complain about the refs!!! :( he should be like Pat Riley.
