Right! JVG can't see the forest for the trees. The answer is not always work harder because sometimes you're working in the wrong direction.

    I'll choose 1 & 2.

Bonzi, Vspan, and Sura for Brent Barry & Jackie Butler.

Spurs do away with their kryptonite. Rockets get a PG who can hit 3s in the first 3/4 of games and a backup big.

You do realize my point was about a guy who comes off the bench and provides energy...right?

Why would we trade Bonzi to the Spurs? Doesn't make any sense. Especially for the guys you listed.

Imagine Bonzi on the Spurs... they'll be so good.

speaking of trading Rafer Alston; this is a true story: I went to sleep last night and I kept thinking about the Rockets, so I had a dream that I am on the computer and I go to clutchfans.net, I get suprised by the front page that has Rafer with a funny face and the headline "the Skip era is history", and to the right, I see "Rockets finally trade Rafer Alston for ....", I really cant remember who the player we traded for was, but I remember saying in my dream "man, I love Clutch's consistency on Rafer Alston". suddenly, I wake up, sky darkens, real life flashes, my hope of a trade crashes, and burns to ashes.. :D

Anytime someone calls you on something, "it was supposed to be a joke."

And just a hunch, my guess is Clutch doesn't think it's Rafer we'll be trading.

I really dont get this! why does everybody wants Bonzi gone? Bonzi is a good player and a great post presence, I dont know why many of y'all like to refer to him as a random "scrub". the guy has skills, not only physical, but also mental. he is a good decision maker, he knows when to pass the ball and when to shoot it. did y'all miss his great internal passes to Yao and to Juwan about 15 games ago? the guy has what it takes, he is a veteran, he is fata$$ (which helps him in the post), all he needs is to get his endurance back on track and adjust his shot a little bit, and he is ready to go. he already has a great influence on the team even in his current state. I wont lie to you, I'd rather see him working his fata$$ off in the post than seeing Luther Head launching threes. actually, I am surprised that we didn't see him in overtime in Denver, which could've saved our behinds and we could've gotten away with a win. instead, coach decided to keep him on the bench for some reason...

but dont get me wrong, we all agree that coach is great and knows what he is doing. he has a winning record with us, we are nine games over .500 and nobody has the right to criticize him until we have a losing record....

but would it be too late? that's the question...

I didn't say I wanted him gone. I said it was 'My feeling...' It is. I believe only an injury keeps Bonzi in the Toy Shop.

Finding Rockets on the bench who can come in to provide hope and energy is not a problem, the problem is that it is flowing to the other team. ;)

oh really? u really know your stuff, dont you?

not trying to be a d!ck here, but I think the "laughing" face in the end of the sentence would imply that it would be a joke. not sure if I am right though, I've only been here for less than a year, you are the veteran..

and just FYI, the only time that I said "it was supposed to be a joke" was in your Ilyahu thread when I wrote "he sux, next" (with a rolleye afterwards, btw) and ClutchCityReturns, which I have a lot of respect to, replied "you dont know what you're talking about". then I said "it was supposed to be a joke" and he understood and wrote "my bad, I will edit my first post", which is why I have a lot of respect to that guy...

for some weird reason, this reminds me of the "Dear Idiots" thread where Sir Jackie Chiles was accused of being a "post stalker". really weird..

well, it's not specifically you, it's just that a lot of people here seem to want Bonzi gone for some reason. all the trade ideas involve trading Bonzi (for Nazr, for Barry..etc). I understand that the fans have this kind of reflex reaction of any player that doesn't contribute right away (probably a result of bad past experiences with D.A, Swift and if u go a while back, Pippen). but I really dont think Bonzi is that kind of guy. he has a bad attitude, no doubt about that ,but the guy puts his maximum effort and gives it his best every time. we've seen him after he went to the bench last game, he was sweating like crazy (which partly a result of him being fat :D )... but the guy really works his head off and is willing to give it his best to win.

JVG's refusal to play Kirk Snyder more minutes is mind-boggling. He's good at the one area where we realyl need a guard to be good at right now...going to the hoop strong, and finishing.

The team's biggest problem right now is its inability to attack the zone. If I'm an opposing coach, zone defense is all I play against us. Our guards aren't good enough to get through the seams and create confusion for the defense...instead they just throw the ball around the horn and jack up outside shots. Most of those are misses, but because the only really good rebounder we have is Deke, who isn't the most mobile player in history, our offensive rebounding is limited to what falls in his hands. Missed long shots lead to fast breaks for the other teams, and continued missed shots lead to the Rockets playing worse defense (when they go cold offensively, they go cold defensively, and vice-versa).

Of course, this is also JVG's fault. He has to tell them how to attack the zone more effectively - namely, going to Tracy or Juwan more at the FT line as the middle-man, or getting the current group of players (or a new rotation - KIRK SNYDER) in there to start attacking!!

I can sort of understand not wanting to put in V-Span, but Kirk Snyder played well in the beginning of the year, and got minutes.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We will trade for PG help. I think it is very obvious this will happen. Unfortunately, Rafer will not be a part of the trade because nobody else in the NBA wants him. We could also use help at PF because of Chuck's tank job.

that's a great point JayZ, I am curious how all the JVG lovers will comeback at you with a "counter statement" to defend the best coach in history...

I find it rather weird that JVG made this statement about "one of them has to wait" when addressing the Kirk/Bonzi issue. I was looking for that "Rockets live by the 3" thread to revisit it but I couldn't find it. I really dont understand why play Luther Head over Snyder. dont me wrong, Luther is a great shooter, but he needs somebody to create for him, and without Yao, he isn't getting the shots he likes, which explains the slight drop in his %, I think we should play Head less minutes and come in with Snyder who is a great driver and a great finisher. we only need shooters from the outside when Yao is on the court, but when he is not, we are just passing the ball pointlessly around the perimeter then taking bailout shots. give Luther less minutes, play Bonzi and Kirk major minutes. we should play big. Kim addressed the "small ball" issue last time and a lot of people agree that we should go big rather than small when Yao isn't playing. I want to see something like: Rafer, Mac, Bonz, Kirk, Deke on the court, or Mac, Kirk, Bonz, Chuck/JHO, Deke where Mac runs the point. this lineup would be far more efficient and would dictate the opposing team to adjust. it will also give us an advantage on the defensive end.

but it all comes back to coach, afterall, I am only a random fan who loves basketball and thinks he knows a little bit about it, but JVG is an NBA coach, he a professional coach, so he must know what he is doing. just making sure nobody misunderstands me. I am not suggesting that I should be the coach. I dont want to see a "who would u rather have coach? RMac or JVG?" thread.
