I totally agree with you, and I don't understand why fans here hate JVG so much. JVG is the coach, he is not supposed to make personnel decisions.

If people here hate the trade so much, they should blame the GM, the organization who appoints the GM, but not the coach.

rockets personnel reading the board, eh?

if damage control... that was a piss poor effort. "piss poor" as in cow piss on a flat rock.

does it mean that i need to get a life or find a new hobby if i'm still upset about this after sleeping on it a couple of nights?

    F them all!

This stinks as a Morey last man decision...

He was there with his little book and his math theory....

Morey - "Hey Carol, my numbers tell me we have a chance of being champions if we trade Gay for Battier! And we can throw in Swift, he doesn't make much sense on this team..."

CD - "Did you calculate everything: age, height, wingspan, weight times brain cells?!"

Morey - "O, I got it all in my little black book!"

CD - "Then, let's do it!....................Hold Up!!! Let me call up Jeff and ask him about this.."

    *Dials JVG's number*

Jeffs son answers..."Hello, this is Gundys!"

CD - "Hey son! Let me talk to your father.."

    *JVG grabs the phone*

    JVG - "This is Jeff.....?!"

CD - "Hey Jeff, we have a chance of trading Gay for Battier and we can thrown in the scrub in the deal!"

JVG - "Do it! Doooooooooooo it!"

CD - "OK! Done Deal! Morey make the deal!

Once again, JVG hides behind CD's skirt. Gutless.

This is not even close! At least Mario Williams can be a star & he was drafted by Coach Kubiak, a proven winner! Not by DUMBA$$ front office with a doofus head coach! THIS IS JUST A TERRIBLE DECISION!

Thanks for the response Jeff Van Gundy. We have been waiting for you to chime in. I realize you don't think it is your responsibility, but, your track record proves otherwise. Every young player on your roster has been traded. Before you arrived, the same gm used to import young players and develope them. After your arrival, we became a retirement home for old washed up knicks players. I guess CD just took a liking to old knick players AFTER you got here. I forgot you don't make personel decisions, CD does.

The last coach that crippled the Rockets so badly was Bill Fitch. We as fans should maintain a drumbeat of pressure to remove Jeff Van Gundy as soon as possible. As a team architect he is inept at best. We were forewarned by his actions in bringing in as many broken down Knicks as humanly possible.

Because of JVG's actions -- and you know he was the one who cried out for this trade -- we have only Tracy McGrady to use as a trade asset to rejuvenate the team. We fans had better hope that McGrady doesn't tweak his back this year or we have nothing to use to build around Yao Ming in the future.

Now, before the T-Mac Only Fans go crazy, I have always scoffed at the trade McGrady threads. I am not advocating that now. I am saying he is the only tradeable resource we have who can bring major pieces. Luther, Jawon and Rafer have some value but not much.

Or maybe we will follow the Portland blueprint. Get two or three Top 10 draft picks in a good draft (2007?) and build from scratch. Drastic? What this trade did was get us into the first round. Then its goodbye. Big whooping deal. We want to win it all -- but we have no depth to move past San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix or even the Clippers.

But we must start as soon as possible by purging the team of Jeff Van Gundy.

I honestly fear, the fans will takeout there frustration on the wrong individual here. shane Battier. he is not the enemy here. like it or not, shane is gonna be part of our franchise next season. i say despite our anger and resentment of the trade, we should try to welcome him to the rockets with open arms. it's not his fault CD is a jackass. he is gonna be giving his all for our rockets next season, so we should try to welcome him.

Looks to me like Dawson or Morey wanted to trade up for Roy, Van Gundy wanted to trade down or out for Battier, Portland settled the dispute, and now Van Gundy's trying to make it sound like management agreed all along. Anybody else have a theory on this?

    I blame Stern and JVG. Stern didn't want any NBA prints showing 2 guys on the floor with "Gay" "Head" on their jersey backs. He demanded a trade take place. Since we've been burned by Pau Gasol so many times, JVG thought it would be funny to see "Gay" "Gasol". {JVG snickers}

No, Gay Head would be brilliant for this organization. Think of the numerous fans we'd attract with Swift Gay Head. Seeing the two together standing next to each other would be a money maker.

That being said, I blame this on the front office. "Hey, lets trade 2 for 1 even though we've got no depth at all!"

    This organization is a mess...

The team will follow it's leadership and right now the leadership is screwed up.

Too many cooks in the kitchen.... Which means this is going to be one JACKED UP pot of soup!!!!!

I still find it hard to believe that JVG had a significant say.

The idea that he doesn't play rookies is clearly wrong. Yes, he was "forced" to play Head more than expected last year, but even when we were healthy for that one West Coast swing early in the year - including Derek Anderson and Wesley and T-Mac and Rafer, Head was playing. He hit that big shot against the Warriors. Plus, he loved Hayes.

Moreover, every interview he did before the draft he was very "uninterested" in the whole process.

What I find more likely is that management convinced themselves Rudy Gay was too young, too far away and too much like Eddie Griffin, found a trading partner in Memphis, said, "Hey Jeff, how about us getting you a rookie we give you another starter with size who can play the 2/3 and even slide over to the 4, can defend and should be healthy enough to give you 35 mpg for the entire season." Well, I'd say yes when its put like that, too.
