"Then in the midst of a tight game, he saw his point driven home only a few feet in front of him. He saw Cuttino Mobley whistled for a phantom touch on Kobe Bryant beyond the 3-point arc at the end of the third quarter, turning a seven-point lead into 10 points when Bryant hit all three freebies."

What the hell is this guy talking about? Like that wasn't an intentional foul. Cat was holding Kobe back while slapping him and looking straight at the ref to sell the foul. I guess the guy who wrote the article might not have seen JVG talking to Cat like he was an idiot when Cat asked him if they had a foul left.

doesn't take much preaching to get JVG's choir into song.

ole man grumpy been fighting this battle with varying degrees of futility for years. its an opportune moment to divert attention and start the excuse mill. dude is a serious one trick pony. subterfuge is the trick and, i have to admit, he works well with smoke and mirrors.

Ahey I think the foul that Mobley gaev Kobe was like 2 steps before he took the shot and no one didn't even notice

John Lopez seems to be the leader of that pack. Three columns in four days, all of them effusive in their praise for an average head coach. Mr. Lopez, a "championship-level head coach" WINS them. JVG ain't there yet.

Problem is, the foul wasn't called until he was in shooting motion. Kobe still would've gotten 2 free throws even if he didn't shoot the ball.

Don't bash JVG because he ain't winning the championship with this team. He has a history of getting the most out of his teams and that doesn't make JVG an average coach. Remember the Knicks???? I guess you choose to forget then..

You expect this Rockets team to win it all??? Keep dreaming buddies

ive noticed that for a long time. when the other team is close its "why are the lakers playing so bad" ?

when the other team is getting blown out its "wow, lets comment more on how great the lakers are"

its always about the lakers. never about the other team. they dont do it to just the rockets.

    gets on my last nerve.

You mean the Knicks who had been underachieved all those years under Riley & JVG, and made final just once due to a last second help call from Hue Hollins? Can you even name the players & their stats for that team?

Hell of a response there, Phil...I know you are, but what am I...

I'm glad JVG stood up for himself and the team, but I think the officiating has been very good this series.

I agree, the officiating has been pretty even this series so far. The fouls are just about even, 44 and 43, I think.

What pisses me off is that Kobe and crew are still crying like babies. Kobe shot 19 FTs and the guy is still crying to the refs. It really seems like the Lakers feel like they are getting robbed by the officials, when time after time, its the officials that are giving them the game.

I'm glad the officials are calling it as even as possible, but that's not enough to make Kobe happy.

Kobe's coming to town, lock your daughters up.

I liked it when JVG yelled his "opinion" on the court at Phil the Whiner. It doesn't matter whether he's a good coach. Anyone who did what he did to Phil the Arrogant Whiner is a hero in my book.
