Yeah the fact that he travels with the team, and actually has conversations with the front office and players almost daily doesn't give him any knowledge whatsoever of how they feel.
I agree with what he's saying but I find it odd that Morey thinks he can move a somewhat troubled guy rotting on our bench easier than a 1st round pick. That doesn't make sense.
Any ways this is RAs biggest problem if you ask me. He has to force guys to fit his system instead of making a system around the guys. I now remember all the complaints that he was trying to turn Yao Ming into something he just wasn't and then didn't like Tmac's isolating style too much. Which is why we keep trading with teams to bring in his old players. At this point it's hurting the Rockets just like it hurt the Warriors before Nellie retired. Rick is stubborn and thinks his style is the only way and i'm glad/hoping this is his last year or we are going to be seeing a lot of younger players come in here via Morey only to get disappointed that they can't get consistent minutes.
So, a former Rocket, a current announcer, who is travelling with the team, and speaking with players daily wouldn't have a better insight into the team than someone with a screen name of REEKO_HTOWN? Really?
Whether you like Bullards Mo-Town jokes, and his "Bull's Eye" analysis or not, I believe him and it makes sense that Terrence Williams not playing started off having nothing to do with talent, but more to do with his overall fit in Adelman's offense. That's how Adelman has always coached. System first. Obviously, Bullard is enough of a source to know now that obviously the Rockets coaching staff are not now more likely to play him now that he is speaking out about his frustrations over playing time. -Makes sense to me.
I don't see how Twill will more than anything but a throw in any deal for this deadline if you don't play him. I guess our silver lining is that our 1st rounder sent to the Nets is lottery protected... Twill is reminding me of that singing frog in the WB cartoons, being passed around and each new owner having dreams of riches.
I think your right on the money here. His offensive system is a thing of beauty and it is fun to watch, but there is a reason why the pick and roll is the most commonly used NBA play out there. Its easy to learn and it allows your best player to have the advantage if he is the best player on the court. Biggest knock on Adelman though would be his lack of defensive preparation and overall coaching. You can debate that with me some other time if you want to bring up his top defense two seasons ago if you want. I just dont have time to explain in detail. -For example....If you dont believe me, watch Scola tonight when he try's to swipe the ball away from the defender who rebounds the ball he is the last player back on defense and basically allows a 4 on 5 defensive breakdown if the ball is pushed up the court. This happens every game and has never been corrected. Just take your eyes off the ball and pay attention.
Right, I guess he forced Yao into the movement offense when he told Yao repeatedly to go in the low post and not mess around with setting picks when Yao was having his way inside...
If he's good he should play. If he can help the team win more games then he should play. Most all star wings are one on one players. **** Adelman
So, Rick should have altered his system (through which, by the way, he has become one of the top 10 coaches in NBA history, win-wise) to fit Terrence Williams? I'm sure glad you don't run the team. You alter your system to fit star players, sure. You DON'T alter your system every time a new body with potential walks in the door. Williams may someday be the type of player a coach would build/alter a system around. That day, my man, is not today.
The "guys" already have a system they're familiar. You're suggesting everyone else on the squad change to suit T-Will.
Nope didn't say he should alter it for Twill. I did not say that. Also I agree dobpro that his defensive coaching isn't any good at all. You can tell because he constantly doesn't play Jeffries and ignores that size is and length is one of the most important factors in playing defense.
Yeah, Scola being awful at defense shows the coach is bad, just ignore the many years of highly ranked defensive teams.
Well, who does Jeffries replace? Scola? lol. Hayes? lol. Patterson? lol. Hill? Mayyyybbeeeee, but Hill also has that size and length and could possibly though unlikely be something. Regardless, I don't think making Jeffries fourth on the frontcourt depth chart instead of Hill really is going to change a whole lot on the defense.
It's funny how defense gets worse when you lose a 7'6" center. Go figure! And Adelman doesn't play Jeffries cause he sucks. **** I am stuck on perma-rage...I can't take the GARM anymore.
