Thats why your not a NBA GM Dada. The draft is loaded this year and mad deep so that would be plain stupid. Head was a 24th pick, right?? He is a solid rotation player on any NBA team.

I'm surprised too, but evidently MIN's asking price was too high. I think James would have been a valuable addition, although I would have preferred if we could have pulled off trading Wells for Duhon.

But, I don't think they lose Sura's value. They can get the injury exception, and use it this summer, which might be more valuable in trades this summer.

And, maybe they do know something about Francis ... lol

I'm most happy that LA didn't get Kidd ... that would have been a nightmare, especially if they picked up Quitten too.

No deal, no title. I heard S. Francis only played 4-8 minutes in last two games, maybe he could come to Houston as his time in New York could be ended soon.

there is absolutely nothing anywhere that shows that mike james and mcgrady disliked each other. that was a rumor started on this board that apparently will never die. van gundy has specifically refuted this exact rumor and tracy was involved in the rockets pursuit of james this offseason, not only saying more than once that him and james were good friends, but also personally calling him to try to get him here. i'm not gonna look for the link, but it's here somewhere.

i have no idea what juwan feels about mike james but players emotions run high during games. best friends have gotten in fights on the court. i'm certainly not gonna assume juwan has a problem with james after no indication of chemistry problems when they actually did play together. add that to juwan's professionalism and that would have been a zero issue.

anyways this is pointless he isn't coming here.

Nah. Not even worth thinking about unless chronic dissappointment keeps you going.

I wasn't worried about this. Kidd really isn't a great fit for what the Lakers run and would kill their hopes to actually add in some decent bigs, which they are doing to need to go anywhere.

This was a weird trade dealines. We could of used a back-up PG, couldn't get one. The Heat really need one too, couldn't get one. Det could have used a back-up SG, couldn't get one.

Meanwhile players like James, Atkins, Stoudamire, Claxton, Lue, etc are just going to rot away. Not only did big deals not go down (Kidd, Carter, Ridnour, etc), even little deals didn't go down. It was collusion by teams ready to hold on to vet players with no future and go down with the ship instead of getting something. Funny thing, even Dallas realized it was better to get something for a vet they could possible use but probably won't use while the crappy teams didn't move their vets for whatever they could get--is there a trend there?

Seems like teams systematically overvalued what they had and ran out of buyers.

The injury exception has a narrow window in which to be used. If the deal is Sura gets claimed as such ... and Knicks agree to buy out SF for value of Rox exception ... with SF agreeing to take Rox exception, say for the three years ... Knicks would save something like $1.9 this year (doubled), $2.1 next year (doubled) and $2.3 the last year (doubled) they would save in the vicinity of $12.6 ... incentive enough for everyone?

I believe Kidd/Kobe/LO = two balls short. Synergy poor on court talent. And does anyone have reason to believe Quitten has anything left in his tank?

Why would Steve do that deal? He should be able to get the full MLE easily if he becomes a free agent after this season. That makes him a whole lot more money and saves the Knick a whole lot more. Although, using Sura's injury exception does make sense in acquiring him for the remainder of this year.

I believe he was referring to a case where Steve gets a buyout with an offset clause. In that case it doesn't matter for how much Steve signs, he will be making the same amount of dough. If he gives them a deal upfront with no offset, than he will try to go to the highest bidder, which may be a full MLE.

Personally, I think NYK will be crazy to buy Steve out. He is their best PG, he's better than Marbury.

Nice recap... With respect to Dallas, though, when I heard that they turned down Mike Bibby for Devin Harris my jaw dropped. Bibby is a great playoff performer; he's having a down year, but a change of scenery and playing with better players would put him back to where he was. Had this deal gone through, we should have just given Dallas the trophy. So in that respect they are very very guilty of overvaluing what they have. Devin Harris??? He's nifty, but he choked in the playoffs last year. He's no Mike Bibby by any means...

First, the Knicks and Stevie need to agree on a buy-out.
Secondly, it's a matter of timing.
Finally, I do not believe that SF has a chance in hell at this point of getting a full MLE either in amount or years or both.

This is from the Lucas for Keiza thread, but thought more appropriate here:

The trade deadline may be over, but depending on how we do this year, I could see the Rockets reconsidering a James-for-Howard swap or some deal that brings James back this off-season. Especially if our PG and PF positions prove to be liabilities in the playoffs as many fear.

I went to work hoping to come back to read about some good news. But I guess it never materialized. Oh well, Mike James will have to wait and get his ring somewhere else.

No doubt, but there is no guarantee anyone drafted low in the draft is going to pan out.....

Even in the so called LOADED drafts.....and I am a GM.....I am CD...you just don't know it.
