Lamest trade deadline ever (around the league)?

Well you get one of those in the draft, resign Hayes, develop Spanoulis at point and still have the full MLE for a single player. Don't forget Bird rights for Jake as a possible backup center

    Scottie P.

Let bygones be bygones, let sleeping dogs lie, bring him in if his knees will hold up. Backup/insurance point-forward.

I think after trying out JL3 and Head at point, JVG will be forced to put McGrady at point, just like Minny was forced to put KG at point in the WCF when Cassell was injured.

maybe there is a deal with 15 players or something and it takes a long time for the league to approve? haha

As for Steve Francis, that is such a long shot I wouldn't even bother thinking about it. Even if he were bought out (longshot--why would the Knicks pay him but get nothing out of him, it isn't like he is totally ineffective or hopeless healthwise), everyone, including now Miami with an even greater role to offer him and also no state income tax, would be all over it.

You mean like providing major energy for the last half of the season (we rose in the standings a number of places) and helped us give the Mavs all they could handle in the playoffs, like last time he arrived in mid-season.

Why we would get Sedale and Rod on the phone right away. Maybe get Kenny Smith out of the booth.

We took a real calculated gamble Alston, Head and Tmac stay healthy and fresh, not to mention that the former two don't wilt in their first big time playoff atmosphere. I am not going to say it can't work out, but not much room for error (or injury) in our backcourt and not the way I would have constructed a win-now team.

    James speaks:

    http://www.click2houston.com/randysblog/index.html

James to Local 2 Sports: "No deal"
    NO DEAL FOR JAMES

Mike James just told Local 2 sports the deal with the Rockets "fell through". James added "It had to be a deal where both parties win and that didn't happen. I'm not disappointed, but if I were to be traded the place I'd like to go would of course be Houston. I'll feel that way until I retire."

No word yet if the Rockets have struck any other deal.

Well crap......I wonder what part of the deal fell through? I mean we have expiring contracts to save them money and they have a glut of guards.

I would even consider throwing in a pick...as we are going to be drafting really low.

Oh well.......at least the deadline passed, let the boys play !!

    Stupid Stupid Stupid Rockets!

It's going to be sickening watching our Tweedledum and Tweedledee backcourt collapse in the playoffs. Please let me be wrong just this once.

PS McHale is probably the dumbest GM in the league...hope the Twolves and KG continue to lose miserably

McGrady hates James. Juwan Howard hates James. It's not a good sign when TWO of your team's players hates a potential trade target already.

Sure, it's not as bad as Brendan Haywood and Etan Thomas, but I'd rather not make it a chemistry experiment.

I totally, honestly, didn't see that until I went to the NBA forum. He was just a guy that popped in my head because I remember him as a cagey vet on the Celts. Weird and shocking.

I hate this argument. There is no truth in it whatsoever, it was created by BBS poster adeelsiddiqui in a game thread. BTW I didn't hear you say the same thing for Snyder when he had an altercation with our entire team last year.

So is McGrady Tweedledee or Tweedledum?

BTW McGrady is not best utilized as a PG, I'm sure you know that.

Howard hates James for sure, he demonstrated as much with the unprovoked ball shove.

McGrady never showed it publicly... but then again he never actively pushed for James like he did for someone like Stro or even Bonzi. In fact I think he made on e public statement when the Rockets were trying to sign James, one that said he doesn't have a problem with James. That's an extremely tepid endorsement if I ever heard one, and in my mind that an indication that McGrady is not a big fan of James, if he doesn't hate him.
